Hey look, another AV thread.
I run tanks and dropships. And if you're a decent pilot you can avoid most of the AV and really be an asset to your team. If you run into someone throwing Packed Lai Dai(overpowered as it is), and lose your tank, usually it's your fault. Don't get out of the way of that pesky CBR7? Usually your fault( unless you're in a logi dropship).
That being said, I believe AV needs tweaking. Keep in mind that we are running STANDARD vehicles against PROTO AV weapons. And as if its not already difficult enough piloting around people who spam CBR7/Wyrikomis, the swarms seem to be invisible about 45-50% of the time. Proto AV+Standard Tank+ Invisible swarms= bad day for tanks.
How about some warning system for tanks and dropships that have a lock on them from swarms? Maybe a Chaff system? A turret or module dedicated to anti-AV? To be so far in the future, anti-AV measures sure are primitive. Or even just fix the invisible swarms. Maybe it's a rendering problem... Maybe it's a server problem. It's not my net(30MB/s).
Hopefully in 1.4 AV might have a hard time taking down our 2-4 million ISK vehicles. |

I've always thought it odd that an "advanced" civilization of humans could not even make defensive measures for vehicles that modern day society uses, like flares. I agree that invisible swarms are a big problem, given that without directly sighting an Anti-armor fit, defense against them is made much harder. Since tanks have warning systems for proximity mines and A/V grenades on the ground, why not use the same warning system when swarm missiles acquire a lock? |

Maybe in a few months we will get some countermeasures. I understand that pulling this game together and putting all of the mechanics into play for so many people is a daunting task, especially when a lot of people really don't spend any money in-game to contribute to the devs. The invisible swarms are my biggest complaint. It really wasn't a problem until the last update. |

well fit tanks and dropships and even some lav's are impossible to kill if they are fit well and driven/flown with a bit of common sense, something which alot of vehicle users don't seem to have. |

I think you are mistaken. No matter how well you are fit, rendering issues that make players invisible at a certain distance who can lock onto your vehicle and shoot soundless, invisible swarms are a pilot's number one demise. You fit a tank and tell me if you can take 3-4 people shooting you with CBR7 invisible swarms.
I think you honestly missed the point of this post. It wasn't a complaint, just feedback on a valid issue. |

tanks have poor infantry rendering, swarmers have (i think) 400m range, therefore, on our screens it never happened, until you are hit, server still knows they were fired. Problem would be that, if they allowed targets to render at 400m for a tank, rail sniping would be too damn fun.
I would like to hear a beep warning when something locks on. like we get from prox mines. which big time need a dmg boost, i ran over 6 before....no issues, dunno if they all triggered, but my tank rolled away, almost fully repped |

Glad to know im not the only one thinking this. Ive post a few time about counter measures. |

This wouldn't be much of an issue if it weren't for dropship pilots dropping proto swarms on the top of the map. At that range, there is little that can be done to stop them, and unless you see the swarm fire, you'd have no idea where they were coming from. If swarms can camp on top of the map and go invisible, a warning system should be in place. |

i saw an on-fire ADR straight up outrun some swarms looking to finish it off by simply climbing high at an incredible speed yesterday. I was impressed. |

It is funny that there are no real countermeasures for swarm missiles other than evasive maneuvers. Right now we have electronic counter-measures and active methods to evade all sorts of missiles like flares and chaff. I would think such things would exist in the arms race. |

As an ADS pilot I know how impossible I can be to kill, until I slow down, even a little, then I am dead. |

i agree with this debate i drive a tank and pilot dropships but invisible swarms do me over, i think a new vehicl module should be put into action a defence laser which zaps the missles out of the sky. every level you get it up by it shoots more and more of a percentage by lewvel 5 its like 75% or sumthing but anything to counteract them would be nice even if we could shoot them down with our turrets would be better than nothing. |
