Dust has turned into nothing more than a grind at this point......
I calculated it the other day, and it takes one week in eve to get a 1x skill to level 5. Also in eve most skills can be moved to level 4 in just a single day. So this whole....it takes 1 week in dust to get even part of a 1x skill to 3.........just isnt cutting it.
Example, in eve I have dumped 271,530 into a 6x skill and its at level 4. For dust, that would be just about 932,760. Over a month's worth of sp in Dust. Granted to move that 6x up to a level 5 would take 23 days.......I think thats alright. At least it allows us to cross specialize and try out new things.
Please.........explain that logic. I understand that there are not that many types of skills we can move into, but at the current rate its just TOO SLOW. I really think you are better off moving into a totally passive skill system. Or allow us to cross specialize more easily. |

people that play lots are racking up 2.5 - 3 mil a month, how much more you want them to get? |

So you are saying these people are playing over 700 games a month?
With boosters you are looking at active gains of about 1.2 mil a month on just cap.
To get an additional 1 mil would require close to 670 games. If you average 15 mins a game thats about 7 days of game time. Something that's not really feasible on top of capping which usually takes half a days worth of playing.
Regardless, I'm wanting it to go to passive only gains or introduce an easier way to cross specialize. Aka increasing the cost of sp to go from level four to five while reducing the costs from 1 to 4 |

Some math so people can make informed decisions.
No boosters.
Active sp = 190,400 per week Passive sp = 24,000 per day 24,000x7 = 168,000 per week
190,400+168,000 = 358,400 total sp per week without boosters
Now with boosters.
Active sp+booster = 190,400x1.5 = 285,600 per week Passive xp+booster = 24,000x1.5 = 36,000 per day 36,000x7 = 252,000 per week
285,600+252,000 = 537,600 total sp a week with boosters.
358,400/168 (hours in a week) = 2133.33 repeating sp per hour
537,600/168 = 3200 sp per hour
My EVE character's fastest sp accrual rate is 2460 sp per hour, with a skill remap putting max stats into primary and secondary attributes for a given skill.
Personally, I think the accrual rate of sp is fine. I believe they need to reduce the amount of sp it takes to level a skill to make it easier to get into a given role. Maybe there's be less protostomping if it was easier for people to get into proto gear. |

Agree I feel sp accrual is just fine, its the cost of skills thats the issue. Doesn't make sense to me why they didnt use the same leveling mechanics as eve. AKA it costs quite few sp to get up to level 4, its that level 5 skill that takes time. Which also allows you to truly specialize while trying out new roles.
But really if they boost the SP amount you attain every week it would accomplish the same thing as reducing the SP cost of skills..........but that wouldnt fix the issues of grind and slow time to try new roles.
You still keep the same total cost to move from level 1 to 5. You just make it so 85% of the total sp cost is from 4 to 5.
EX: NEW: it takes 1mil sp total to build a skill to level 5. To get from level 1 to 4 it would cost 250,000, the additional 750 would go from 4 to 5.
OLD: its more like 500,000 to get to level 4, than 500,000 to get to level 5. |

What i hate is, that once i hit that cap.
Boom, no reason to play anymore.
We need some way to always get 3000-6000 a game.
All passive works in eve because you have to pay for an account. It's free for us so we really have no reason to play, to get SP if it's all passive. |

Bump, the level of grinding doesnt fit well in an fps, iv seen literally hundreds come and go after a week once they realise what it boils down to and how long they have until pc |

It doesn't have to be 1 to 1 compared to Eve.
It's enough to have sensible rate of progression.
What is sensible is another long discussion which has already taken place. (if interested, dive into forums) |
