Are these shadow artifacts the reason people on top of the communications outpost are always inside the structure? Like when people are vied like they are inside walls or inside floors.
Or else what does it mean? |

If that was fixed...I would be so happy.
Whenever I decide to counter snipe this always becomes an issue as everyone swims around inside of the terrain and structures >_< |

I think it's more about the shadow flickering on surfaces that are angled in such a way that they are neither completely lit nor completely dark.
Just pay attention the next time you see these two elevated buildings with the angled front and back sides. They often have this issue in certain moods. |

Looks a bit like z fighting, just with shadow/light instead of two textures.
Never noticed anything like that. Very disappointing. |

The issue described above where people apear to pop in and out of walls, etc. when viewed at long distance, is an issue with Z-buffering.

The shadow issue they are fixing, from what I can gather, occurs when ambient (static) shadows are not drawn properly on surfaces that are more or less parallel to the rays cast from the ambient light source. It looks like z-fighting, and is a common issue with ambient shadows across many, many games. Looks similar to, but not exactly like, this: http://takinginitiative.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/zfighting.png |
