It's a sidearm, and now it has stats like a sidearm. |

Then it'd be crappy, because it'd be a three-shot weapon and people would just run around you while you tried to attack them. |

If you can still kill people with a weapon, and it fills out a defined role, than only in an extreme case would I call it a "nerf" and not a "balance". Post Uprising the Mass drivers blast radius was nerfed and the Laser rifles range was nerfed. The laser rifles strength came from its effectiveness at long ranges, without that it was very UP. The mass driver is a terror weapon with a blast radius large enough to scare people. With no blast radius, you can't effectively suppress a large group or get someone out of a corner.
The flaylock was OP, it was too effective in too many situations. It took down shields and armor easily, allowed faster movement, fired quickly, and didn't require precise aiming. On top of that it had a low fitting cost and could be dual equipped on any non logi suit. The recent balance tightens it to a sidearm role as was intended, deadly when used accurately, but not meant to be the first choice.
Now before someone complains about the AR being good in every situation, it is, but there are situations where another weapon will excel at it. The ARs popularity comes more from it's flexibility than its killing power. It will still get outmatched by a shotgun at close range, and a LR at long range. It also isn't as effective at tearing down armor as the SMG, HMG, and MD. The AR also has the advantage of being one of the easiest weapons to understand as well as being the most prevalent in the industry. |
