It's fine. It's true that more people are using it now, but that's because in uprising before 1.2 only like 7 people were still running with it. It is not OP, it is working as intended. It still isn't as powerful as it was in chromosome, and even then it wasn't a problem.
Don't lump it in with the flaylock pistol. |

What I wanna know is why is it considered a crowd control weapon when it has so much emphasis on destroying armor infantry?
Also the blast radius buff was unnecessary, even the devs didnt know about it so my guess is its a mistake. |

Personally the blast radius was my favorite aspect. I always said they could nerf the damage if necessary, but the blast radius gives the MD a specific role. The MD is a terror weapon, so I expect it to have a larger bark than bite.

Also the blast radius buff was unnecessary, even the devs didnt know about it so my guess is its a mistake. It's a grenade launcher, grenades explode, grenades hurt armor. The blast radius is needed because it's an area denial weapon that uses moderate damage to scatter organized squads and **** off people that zerg rush. But even with all those strengths it's got terrible field longevity, it's weak to shields, fires a slow moving projectile with dropoff and the AR beats it 9/10 in open ground. If you see a MD on the kill feed, use common sense and don't rush around corners or else you're going to have a bad time. |

the only problem with the MD at this point, IMO is that it has become FOTM.
When it is used in great numbers it makes it impossible to counter.
Its kinda funny getting in close and watching inexperienced users kill themselves :) |

In chromosome, my weapon of choice was the assault MD and it had a huge blast radius, but not a very high splash damage and a slow fire rate. I chose it because it was the perfect area denial weapon. I was toast in CQC, on the ground, and at any range closer than 5 meter (As a logi I had no sidearm). I'd occasionally get kills, nothing crazy though. On rare ocassions I'd finish up a blob on blob firefight with more kills than assists, but 90 percent of the time I was at a disadvantage, so I'd focus more on healing and resupplying my squad. This is what a mass driver should be, a weapon that is not the master of all situations, but a very useful weapon in a few. This is why I put so much emphasis on splash radius instead of damage. |

Now that the hit detection issue is fixed the splash radius is too big.

Thats the point I'm trying to make, its meant to be a crowd control weapon but as it currently stands, its more of an anti armor weapon than it is crowd control. An area thats constantly under fire is crowd controlling, a large splash area that chews through armor like butter, is not. I understand that weapons need to follow their intended ballistic role but even rules need to be broken, such as is the case of the shotgun which chews through armor and shield equally effective but requires you to be in close proximity.
Armor tankers are slow, why should they take in so much extra damage while taking even longer to get out of the blast radius? Thats an unnecessary double negative.
I dont know about you but I'm pretty proficient with the AR and I find it hard to take down a bunny hopping 5m explosive no aim spam that can kill me in 3 indirect hits. Yes I have fought them in many different terrains including flat and bumpy. Having the height advantage seems to be the best counter for MD as they have to actually aim now instead of spamming near your feet. |

The small clip size and slow fire rate make the MD an easy enough weapon to avoid. It's not an aim and click, it has an arc, it has limitations. It's practically impossible to get hit by a MD when you are on the high ground. If people learned to move they'd find a much easier time avoiding them. If you are caught in corner or behind cover and start getting pummeled by MD splash I have news for you: That is its intended role. That is why the splash damage is lower, it's not trying to kill you, it's trying to get you out in the open so other people will kill you. It is highly effective in large groups. Instead of getting angry at the weapon, take into account the fact that you were taken out by more than just the MD. You were taken out by a large group of people, the MD was just the loudest. That is why it is a terror weapon, and that is why you want to nerf it, because it scares you, as it should. It is not OP. |

I am fine with them taking extra dmg........but the radius needs to be changed back to what it was in 1.2. Prior issue with the MD was hit detection/explosive issues. Now that they are fixed the radius they have is stupid. Since basically all MD users carry flux nades.....which work through objects as long as your in the blast radius. So throw a flux nade and then spam MD with a 7 (or more) meter radius to hit someone.......basically if you cant hit someone with a 7 meter radius then you suck badly.....heck you suck if you cant hit someone in a 3 meter radius..... |

this right here echoes my usage of the MD during Chromosome. Although from memory the Assault had a faster firing rate then the other types, coupled with a larger clip and ammo pool... this to counter its reduced direct and splash damage.
As someone else said, the MD is a Terror Weapon. Half its allure is the psychological effect it has. That is is being run by squads (predominantly on the American Server) is FoTM, I'd hazard that alot of people are still using or used to fitting AV 'nades because of the Great Murder Taxi debacle of '13.
Also, MD's are notoriously hard to aim over longer distances, they only shine at low-mid to mid range, AKA street fighting. |

Complain about the damage all you want, if they nerf that I can live with that, but if you nerf the blast radius it just becomes a slow firing, low clip count arced AR. People who have run with MDs know that most of the time you are at a disadvantage. The second someone who hasn't used one gets killed by one it's "OP". I can't stress enough how important the blast radius is, it is an anti blob and anti cover weapon.
I run with an armor tank, I know it can suck to get caught by one, I know it can be scary getting a way with the slower movement speed, and I don't even run with a MD anymore. It doesn't need a nerf, people just need to learn to counter it, and accept that not all things need to be good in all situations, and that things that excel in some aren't necessarily OP.
Also the large blast radius isn't about aiming poorly, it's about getting hit detection on the most enemies as possible. Do just 30 damage each to shields on large group, and I guarantee at least half will scatter. People react to the noise, and rarely look down to see exactly how much HP they've lost, they just know they're vulnerable. |

Don't lump it in with the flaylock pistol.
It still takes skill to use. I like ti cause I can use it much easier then the AR, and the limited ammo still makes it harder to use. |

Flaylocks getting nerfed to the not used sin bin is bad news for you MD users.
I am telling you right now that you are going to see a Ninja nerf to your MD's so prepare yourself.
As for me when they throw my Flaylock onto the not used sin bin pile, meh no big deal I have my AR to fall back to. I also will be dumping SP's into SMG's now. Minmitar bonus still gives me extra rounds on SMG's as well.

It's still a situational weapon with bad field longevity and lower DPS than a MLT AR. You can't nerf something that's already under performing. If people are going to cry about something, it might be the laser, I hear you can kill with it again.... |

Don't lump it in with the flaylock pistol. The mass driver was fine when I was using it in Chromosome. It did not need the extra 2m blast radius they added to it. That was just an attempt to balance it before they figured out and fixed the explosion bug. Now that the explosion bug is fixed they should put it back to the blast radius it had in Chromosome. |

News flash, Flux grenades make AR's pretty stupid deadly too. So stop lumping it with the MD like it says something about the MD.
When the MD was underpowered, it was because it's splash either didn't work, or wasn't large enough. Honestly, I care less about how much damage the splash does than it's size and it working is key to how the MD works.
If you're dying to a MD, it's because your shields are gone, and you have no armour. When your shields drop, and you're shield tanking, MD or not, you need to get out of the action. So don't blame the MD, it's purpose is to deny you cover, and deny pickups, and control areas. If it couldn't kill you, then it wouldn't do those things. |
