As for the Original Post, unskilled Swarm Launcher users die quickly and die often. For more information see my guide: Unleashing the Swarm, a guide to being effective with the Swarm Launcher |

To give this thread its proper due:
1) Armour tanks are underpowered. They need damage type specific hardeners to counteract their susceptibility to explosive damage.
2) CCP needs to implement a warning alarm when someone is trying to lock your vehicle, a second alarm for a full lock, and a third alarm for incoming missiles. This would allow skilled tank operators to use cover to break locks, or block incoming missiles. Active countermeasures such as flairs might be a nice touch as well.
3) If you are running with a Blaster tank you really should be squadding up with a good sniper. Next to other snipers, Swarm Launcher users are the second most juicy target for a sniper.
4) Swarms are very obvious visually. If they go invisible then that is a bug.
Swarm Launchers are actually fairly well balances as far as I can tell. The problem is that Armour tanks are too susceptible to explosive damage with no way to counter this. If you nerfed Swarm Launchers as much as Armour Tankers would like they would be completely useless against shield tanks. The answer is to buff Armour Tanks.
As fare as Easy mode goes, I have found that killing Infantry with a Blaster Turret is just as easy as locking a HAV with a Swarm Launcher. With both Swarm Launchers and Tanks, it is not the killing that requires the skill, it is the staying alive part that requires skill. If there were no AV weapons would the HAV not be completely easy mode? Yet you base your judgment of the Swarm Launcher on ideal conditions, as if your team has no Infantry or Snipers for the Swarm Launcher operator to worry about. Is this not a double standard?
Finally, if you are completely fed up with Swarm Launchers, switch to driving a Logi LAV. I have not seen a Swarm Launcher take out a Logi LAV since the global vehicle hit point buff a few days after Uprising. |

Snipers Swarms The LAVs that are far better than the armor variants. Dropships. Sniper Rifles The Suits The Women Dropships? Yeah, I had the same reaction. LOL |

On your final point, Proto swarm launcher with damage mods a one shot kill for all LAV's 98% of the time. I was formulating a response to this post, when suddenly I realized that your post could be read as saying that a LAV can 1 shot a merc with a Proto Swarm Launcher and Damage modes 98% of the time. Having ended up as road kill when hunting LAVs on several occasions I have to say I completely agree. |

Serimos Haeraven wrote:Personally, proto-swarm launchers make me laugh. Whenever i get hit by heavy proto swarms i just watch where they come from and use my dropships speed to fly literally right over the swarmer but be going so fast that all of his swarms are completely useless, and i make sure to let him know i know exactly where he is :P & people that SP sink that much just for swarms is pretty hilarious alone. It is nice when player skill becomes a prominent component in balance. Proto Swarm vs Dropship is a great example of this.
Proto Swarm vs Bad Pilot = Dead Dropship Proto Swarm vs Good Pilot = Wasted missiles
I solute you and the skilled pilots like you. I just wish the bad pilots could keep their drop ships from running into buildings before I get the kill. |

For more information see my guide: Unleashing the Swarm, a guide to being effective with the Swarm Launcher dude i always fall for troll bait....even if i know the man is trolling...ive been like that since i was a kid...... only God knows why i still fall for this stuff This thread is no troll, swarm launchers are noob mode plain and simple. So are HAVGÇÖs, or did you not play during any of the builds where HAVGÇÖs were strong and AV was weak? The only thing that keeps HAVGÇÖs from being noob mode is AV. When the balance is off between HAVGÇÖs and AV then one or the other will seem like noob mode to the casual observer.
The answer to the current situation is to give HAV pilots counter measures that will allow player skill to be a factor in avoiding Swarm Launcher damage. Removing Swarm Launchers would just make HAVGÇÖs easy mode for bad players. Which solution would you prefer? |

I'm a tanker/proto swarmer.... I don't see them as easy. If you don't have a good enough sidearm your dead. DS's outrun them which makes sense right now... But will have to change when jets, super fast flying planes, are introduced. Also unlike the FG you have to step out of hiding for a couple of seconds. Also OF COURSE there is going to be a heat seeking weapon. At least it can't fire at infantry still. Complaining is going to do nothing. Do you really think CCP well nerf this weapon? They may do nerfs/buffs to other things that result it seeming to be nerf.
The glitches do provide an unprecedented advantage... Which well obviously be fixed soon... If your going to complain about something, other than core flaylock, please be sure you are specced into it as well. Nice to hear from someone who has been on both sides of the fence.
The solution for using Swarm Launchers against jets is to program them to take a head on course against jets. Basically, fly into the jetGÇÖs flight path, turn toward the jet, and fly straight at it. This will mean that while Swarms will not be able to catch a jet flying away, they will be able to catch jets flying generally toward the Swarm Launcher. It will also mean that skilled jet pilots will be able to make a last minute course correction to avoid the swarms, thus balancing on player skill. |

The Attorney General wrote: I once saw an assault troop pop a Soma with one volley from his swarms, then use the flaylock to kill two scouts before shooting off another volley from his swarms across the map and blapping a DS.
I said to myself "Well, that seems balanced"
Likely what you saw is a group of swarms hitting the engin block of the tank for 200% damage. The vehicle equivalent of a head shot. This would be a lucky shot, since you canGÇÖt aim a swarm. The Soma operator probably also lacked vehicle tanking skills.
The Flaylock nerf is incoming. CCP are just trying to decide how they are going to do it.
I would need more information than GÇ£blappingGÇ¥ to explain what happened to the Dropship. |

I donGÇÖt think SoTa pOp can really take credit for the success of his Troll post. Without Soldiersaint and his periods of doom, SoTa pOp would be nothing!
I also must apologize for derailing this Troll thread by interjecting intelligent discussion. Parts of this thread have turned into and interesting and considered debate. |
