The PlayStation-ĞMove implementation in Dust 514 needs lots of improvements and is not a viable alternative controller for infantry and vehicle combat.
Here's a TL;DR Version of what could be done to make Make PS Move better:
***Add Dynamic deadzones***.
Add gesture sensitivity options.
Add quick, Modal, and focal turn modes for PS Sharpshooter AND vanilla Move.
Being able to set the Max turn speed deadzone
Having a 0 deadzone border actually set no deadzone.
Lower sensitivity settings.
Add weightiness to reduce the jitteryness.
Adaptive zoom option for ALL controllers.
Different sensitivity settings for when ADS.
Customizable button controls.
This is how I want the default move controller to work.
---
{Long version}
[Problems and fixes]
A lot of people feel that the PS Move is to sensitive, resulting in jittery movements. The controls are also jerky, there is little transition from one movement to the next, no momentum. It needs to gradually move from slow to fast as you move it, as if it has some initial inertia to overcome.
On the Playstaton Move settings page on the deadzone settings section, the 0 height and width settings aren't actually giving 0 height and width deadzones.
One problem with the PS Move is that you have to move the cursor far from the center to a good turning rate since the maximum turn-speed deadzone width is roughly at 120. Being able to change that to a smaller number would help users who have a problem with that have a way to fix it without affecting PS move users who are fine with the current system.
Fixing these three problems will allow users to tweak the move so turning and aiming would be similar to using a regular controller and while scoped. This would also allow users to set the move controller to have a fixed cursor, so it moves the camera and the cursor at the same time.
To further improve the PS Move experience, these turning options should be added:
Dynamic deadzones has the bounding boxes dynamically redrawn when you stop turning to the new cursor location.
Heres a detailed analysis that shows focal, quick, and modal turn options for the PS Move work.
These could be set to be activated by pressing L1+L2 (or any other combination) or on all the time for modal and quick turn modes. If no turn mode is set or if a turn mode is set to on all the time, L1+L2 should be able to lock the camera.
Quick turn mode maps camera angle directily to the move one, so it's basicly like its a mouse.
Modal turn mode sets a super small deadzone.
Focal turn mode spawns a tight deadzone wherever you are pointing and is resettable.
Here is another vid of how modal turn mode always on would be.
--- Dead Space Extraction, Killzone 3, and Socom 4 had the best PS Move implementations. Hopefully Dust 514 can learn from them and make something awesome.
I hope to see some improvement in the next 3 months! |

I love the immersion of using it in Crysis 3, and would love to see this get done after the more common controllers have been fixed.

The move is simply dead. If it's going to be revived, Dust isn't the game to do it. |

+1000!
It should also fix this:
- In the menu fifting when the PS Move is on, the character leaves the screen... So strange...
- Opening the weapon wheel selection with the Move button, our movement is frozen (infantry and vehicles). Why? why? and why? It's hell for logisticians.
- Large turrets are useless, as if our movements do not hung ... (while small turrets work very well.)
(sorry if my english is not good, I hope I'm understandable) |

I never had a chance to try out the PS move in any game whatever. If it ever gets fixed, I will probably try it to see if it helps with my knives in any way.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

(Bumping an ancient thread)
But +1
One game that did an excellent job of incorporating the MOVE controller was SOCOM 4. It worked great, and largely thanks to the dynamic deadzone.
I know CCP has much bigger fish to fry, but this would be cool to see.

I've mentioned this before, but SOCOM 4 did an amazing job of implementing the MOVE. It felt so good because of their dynamic deadzones. It worked perfectly. Copy them.

Me too...
I continue to force myself to play PS Move, but it is clear that it is absolutely not competitive. Already just the fact that the rotation is super slow ... When I play the DualShock3, I put the sensitivity on 55 and I'm 5 times faster for turning than the PS Move with sensitivity to 100 ... It will already start by correcting this ...
The hit Detection looks to me still lousy with PS Move, I always feel like 2 times less dmg with the Dualshock.
And finally, I find it easy to lose sight of the pointer, it would be nice to make it a little more visible, like in killzone 3.
Please CCP, do not forget the PS Move player. In 2011 you had stated the willingness to be competitive with the PS Move controller, keep your commitment. (I know whereof I speak, I 'm editor in Dust514-France.fr , and I've got your old interview under the nose ... )
I hope I can finally play normally with the PS Move in Uprising 1.8 ... please, please, please... |

Don't worry, I mobilized my troops. lol. I am determined to get an answer concerning the PS Move implementation! I'm tired of being in the dark about it.
And most importantly, you gave to CCP all information necessary to do something good with the PSMove. You deserve your answer! |
