No competitive FPS clan will stick around and hope-n-pray that this gets better. I agree with Attorney that the only thing that will save this is if they just focused on a massive reboot of just about everything. Take it down for 6-12 months and go back to an internal beta and re-release it on the PS4.
To have this game survive in the near future it must have: - At least 64 v 64 game modes - Large Map Sizes - Commander Mode - More diverse play environments - PVE - More vehicle diversity
There is no way that this game is going to compete against BF or KZ which are PS4 launch titles. Then add in Destiny and the other games that are coming out shortly after and this game will look archaic. |

Then add in Destiny and the other games that are coming out shortly after and this game will look archaic. I'm sorry but what does map size and team size have to do with making the game survive? Look at MAG. They had Commander Mode, the largest battles, and extremely large playing maps, yet the game went downhill. If it's as bad as you and OP say in Dust those gimmicks ain't gonna help. We need them to dive deeper into New Eden with Dust 514 and allow for some dynamic stuff to really happen. I guarantee you it'll be way more inviting if corporations could do something like, actually help toppling an EVE empire. MAG was a great game with an insufficient business strategy. It's funny, 1.03 pales the carnage inflicted by patches such as Uprising.
MAG's fault was not in the game's basis but what the developers did after that. There is the imfamous 1.3 patch that Noc mentioned There were two DLCs that were completely worthless The developer went under and yet the game still survived for a bit after
Map/Team size a - Allow for more diversity in vehicles (air ground) b - Allow for more diversity of players. A couple new guys can survive in a bigger group when they have more support c - Makes dropships and transport vehicles mean more than just getting to an objective a tad bit quicker d - Bigger and more complex facilities mean that more strategy is involved and allows for more diversity in vehicles as different ones will be suited to different environments
Adapt & Die - This shouldnt mean that you have to overcome bad mechanics, sloppy development and poor communication. It should mean that you have to be able to field the best fit for the environment that is put in front of you. The ability to take stock of the situation and put yourself in the best possible gear to have your and your team win.
Right now we are just playing ring-around-the-rosie trucking from objective to objective. |

Old saying, if it aint broke don't fix it. True true but it gets boring after a while if the vomit doesn't at least change colors or smells.
IWS - Think of it as a proven foundation material. Its not the entire house but it gives you a good base to build something special on top of. There is a reason that the majority of cars out there still have 4 wheels and an internal combustion engine.
Be it Ferarri or Kia, they still have the same basic roots. It just matters where each company went from there.

Never played any of the Planetside games so I cant answer that. All I know is that we are playing a game that is struggling to live up to another that came out 4 years ago.
Just imagine if we had DUST on a map that was like SVER's Intradiction map. I hated the game mode but the diversity of that map was awesome between open ground and building to building combat.

Sometimes, trying to sound smarter than you are can backfire. Sometimes corrected one spelling without noticing that ALL his posts are edited cause he just flies through can make you look like a bloody Nerd. But not the I like comics and games kind. You didn't misspell the word, you used the wrong word entirely. Judging by your response, you still don't know the difference. I'm just trying to help you. Don't use big words when you have a limited vocabulary, it will save you from sounding ignorant.
Who cares?
So he used the wrong word that sounds exactly like the right word. The only people that care are other grammer n@zis and English teachers. How about arguing the topic rather than being a petty little nothing? |

I'm sure they meant ten years after release ;) lol, good luck with this game being viable 10 months after release Is it even viable now? Player counts are trending down, there doesn't seem to be any meaningful content due for the next couple of months, and the fixes are coming slow and with their own problems. How few players does Dust need to be called a flop?
Right now people are hanging on by a thread with hope that 1.4 will actually be something meaningful. 1.3 is going to be a balancing pass and 1.4 will be new content.
1.4 will be the last shot CCP has at keeping core FPS players interested or they will just sit and wait for the PS4 launch FPS titles.
Uprising Launch - 8-9k people One Month Later - 5-6k people Currently - 4k people
CCP either understands that they need to burn the midnight oil to get a good release out for 1.4 or the only people that are going to playing this game are EVE folks and the poor sap that thought they were getting a good deal with a free FPS game.

Because CCP will create another Derpship variant that makes no sense and tell people that they are releasing new content. Next they will have an LAV ice cream truck that feeds hungry mercs during battle. |

RedRebelCork wrote:BGoat wrote: I'm obviously trolling this thread because I'm sick of people writing novel-sized forum posts about why they hate this game, yet continue to play it. This topic is a dead horse that has been beaten beyond recognition and I have absolutely no desire to "argue the topic". I would much prefer that people just STFU or HTFU. Don't like the game and don't think it will ever succeed? STOP PLAYING.
People are stopping, all the time. Just look at the trending figures on eve-offline. As regards the novellas of criticism, would you prefer one-liners? You know, "This game sucks, you're all gay for playing, I'm quitting to wait for Destiny"? If you don't want to read constructive feedback that people have put thought into then I suggest you stop playing the forum. If people didn't care about the game they'd just leave quietly and move onto the next thing.
^This.
If I or my clan/corp didnt care about this game, we would have quietly moved on to something else.
Personally, I did invest money, time and hope into this game because I thought it could be something special. The issue is not the premise but the execution here.
CCP keeps telling us that they will have more interaction with the playerbase and they even created the CPM to be a set of delegates for us. Oh, they try for a bit here and there but then the apathy sets in again and they go silent.
I do appreciate that they are moving to this monthly patch system and that they are alternating between content and balance but I fear that it might be too late to keep people interested at this point.
I might be wrong and 1.4 may have enough content in it to keep people going but that is yet to be seen as we have no clue what is going to be in it.
The problem is that CCP doesnt understand the power of anticipation nor do they understand exactly where they are at with their playerbase.
Give us an idea of what is coming and some sort of roadmap and you might see more people stick around. |
