This game....
Did not need to model itself after the same worthless timesink RPG mechanics of EVE.
It could have went a completely different direction. IT should have.
FPS's.. Which is what this is trying to be.
Should be about PVP.
This game is about.....
I play more than you... so I win.
I have a bunch of players in a squad who ALL play more than you.... so we win.
We win, because we have no life, no jobs, and all the time in the world to play this game every waking hour of our lives.
You lose, because you decided to get a real job and have a life.
The very core of this game has a problem. The part that is supposed to be making it have "Depth" is the problem.
Then you add on the fact that the FPS's mechanics are also a huge problem......
And what you get is an FPS wannabe that isn't worth the free pricetag.
IE. Depth in dust translates into one thing.
A Huge gap in players, caused by a worthless timsink mechanic that is putting certain players at a disadvantage for no good reason other than to give the no lifers free pubstomps.
Then what do you do to fix it? Seperate players by the amount of time they have invested?
That is not a solution. Cause you'll either...get very limited games always playing against the same bracket of people, or you won't get any games at all.
CCP needed to realize...
When you make an FPS. You cannot model it after a game like EVE.
You can tie it into a game like EVE and have it control certain things in that universe... like who actually get control of a planet, etc.
But... the foot soldiers or mercenaries fighting for control of these planets do not need to be locked out of the equipment required to compete.... just because they don't have the same amount of time invested.
FPS are and will always be about Sklll, Accuracy, Timing, Dexterity.
Dust is a Spreadsheet FPS. That gives advantages to those who have more time invested.
Dust is a Failure.
Read as: butthurt because he has little gungame and can't spend 2 hours a night to cap out.
This game isn't meant to be solo-rambo-twitch-CoD. It was designed to pull a more MMORPG type crowd where you have to work to get anything worthwhile. It was also designed around teamplay, and as you can see from any random pubstomp, teamplay is everything. I topped the boards against top squads with a 650k SP heavy all night last night. Gear and SP is not the end-all be-all that everyone claims..
Keep telling yourself that.
At the end of the day, the spreadsheet FPS says otherwise.
The numbers and advantages that come from having more time invested is the end-all of this game.
Just cause you played against a bunch of people who either sucked, went easy on you, or whatever.. isn't going to suddenly change that fact.
And if you ask me... it sounds more like your trying to brag to me about how your so awsome at this game...it must be everyone else that sucks right? Go f' yourself with that elitest BS.
And... nobody said it had to be a solo-rambo-twitch game.
But you know what...I gaurantee most of you vets play this game exactly in that fashion anyway....
You just so happen to think that it's teamwork only because someone happens to be in the area next to you.
Well guess what...sometimes when I play CoD...there are teammates around me on certain occasions.
Tell me... when you come to a corner?
Do you yell "Thunder" and wait for the response of "Flash"
To make sure it's a friendly?
The idea that you think this game is any different than CoD.... is ******* amazing.
Because it is not.
It is different in that it sucks to play it. But as far as teamwork goes.... there is nothing special happening, that sets this above all the other mindless rambo FPS's out there. You could just as easily, take what you call teamwork in Dust and do the same in any other shooter and get results from it.
The only difference is... You can actually still enjoy yourself in the other games when your team isn't online to help you.
I can jump on CoD with a bunch of randoms... and still have fun.
2 equal teams are going to face off...
As far as gungame and teamwork skills are concerned... are complete equals.
Without any other factors this game would be a draw every time.
The difference between these teams is Time Invested.
One team takes full advantage of their time invested.
The other team, just started and does not have any time invested.
Which teams wins?
Don't lie to yourself.
