If I fly below 200 feet, I get instapopped. One hit = dead. Seems to be railguns but not certain the death screen details are not very specific. Expensive fireball. Perhaps lag. Death screen shows total damage but onscreen is boom dead. No time to react. I try to liftoff into the red on skirmish but same result. After first minute or so AB is needed and some luck just to call in dropship and get into the air. Hugging the red is ineffective.
If I spend too much time at maximum height as to avoid said death, a bug occurs where I am hit for 57k damage and die instantly. Yep.
I have tried many alts flying all of the dropships. There are a few ways to fit it. Logi tank, Afterburner GTFO, or LAVmince AKA Assault. None of them are successful. If you go for tank, you die from maximum height death. If you go for AB, you cannot get out in time against the ubertracking playerturrets. If you go assault. LOL assault. Superfunhappyride all aboard for pointless fit.
All I'm saying is: It's impossible to fly Dropships. Between the ground offence, zero counter measures and glitchtastic gameplay, I just have to give up playing. I really want it to be playable but I've exhaunted all my options and I'm afraid it isn't achievable to fulfil the role whatsoever. |

Skihids wrote:You are probably too new to have read all the veteran pilot threads where we went over this ad nauseam and concluded by respecing out of flying.
Just put your toys in the hanger for a year or so until they get fixed.
I would respec out of flying if I cared about anything else in this game.
Yes, yes I might just come back when dropships are fixed. But it's been a year now a they are still broken. i'm just frustrated and fed up to be honest. I've read other complaints but wanted to put my extra sauce on it before I left. |

THUNDERGROOVE wrote:Idunno man, they do have far too little EHP but I was playing with a fellow named Blackout last night and he seemed to fly his dropship pretty well and had no issue with anything other than swarms.
Wasn't really a problem for him since he could easily do some fancy barrel roll to evade them.
Do a barrel roll!
I find that hard to believe. You need at least 100 feet a full momentum to do a barrel roll. If you are going full throttle at a hundred feet, then your mercs must have to time your jumps perfectly. Most players don't get how to do that. More over if you don't have a clone onboard, how are you going to pick up players? No worries brah, just do a barrel roll and evade them. As if that **** actually worked because it doesn't. Only thing that stops swarms is range and obstructions.
For this reason, AB fit is effective against swarms. Put on some hardeners and youre golden. Fly away, rep and come back later. But then if you fit an afterburner, youre effective HP goes down, meaning you are weak to forges and rails and get 2 shotted, i.e. instant death.
I don't know how to approach this. I had my little rant but I'm a constructive person at heart. Honestly, I probably need more tips. |

I am ignorant about LLAV fits but surely a DS has more EHP already.
Thing is, LLAVs are much more manoeuvrable than dropships. A good driver will use buildings and so forth between him and the threat and he can GTFO quite easily.
A dropship on the other hand, can't get away quickly or use buildings between himself and the would be turret or forge gunner. Or should I say, he is strongly advised not to. If you want to you have to land somewhere for protection. And when you're on the ground you are extremely vulnerable. Not because you have low HP or anything like that, but because you just cut yourself off from the only escape plan you had. Taking off takes a long time, too long. There is no way you can react to swarm even, if you wait for him to come for you. |

If the DS handled like an LAV in the air, that would solve 90% of problems. |

Oh hell, let's add a gun and have it kill things, because that's the only real mission we have to offer...
Holy hell that thing is hard to aim.
Like trying to urinate in tin while you hula hoop. |
