It's definitely needed, if just so RPers can roll fully in their preferred faction. Though there's other things, like damage to shields verse damage to armor. The Gallente plasma shotgun is 110% shields 90% armor, but this Amarr shotgun would be 120% shield 80% armor and the Minmatar one would be 80% shield 120% armor. Also you can have varying attributes like power versus fire rate or the amount of spread. Currently the Gallente plasma shotgun has a very focused shot with little spread which means it can do high damage if you make a hit but it's pretty difficult to get that hit.

So it just makes me curious, will we eventually get race variant for the shogun? What would a laser based shotgun be like? Would the Minmatar shotgun look like a Mossberg (that would be epic). And while we're on the subject of little discussed topics, are we going to get race variant for SMGs for all the races? Hum, laser based SMG... 0.o

Plus it would be so epic if the Minmatar shotgun closely resembled a contempory shotgun, if there is anything that should survive into the future it is the contemporary shotgun. This needs to happen.

MagSec SMG is another Sub-Machine Gun coming out and that's the Caldari racial equivalent to the Minmatar SMG. I WANT MY SCRAMBLER SMG!!! The aesthetic just doesn't say "Amarr" to me at all. It's probably a now-discarded early design for something else. Now, that thing that is 2nd from the right in the second row? Whatever that is looks to be Amarrian. Perhaps it's the Amarrian AV weapon. I just don't see any grips or triggers on it, though. P.S., Who says that doesn't look like it'd be a shotgun barrel. Shotgun barrels are just tubes. That weapon (the one you were talking about) has two of 'em.

Possible spool up/charge up time, in which case higher damage. For comparisons sake Gallente: Short range, basic fire rate, plasma being extremely effective at short range. Something like a moderation between all the races. The basic shotgun.

Reason I say its the Amarr shotgun is because it definitely appears to be a shotgun and it's definitely not Caldari or Minmatar, and the Gallente already have one. I can sort of see Amarr aesthetics in it but agree it's not super evident. As far as the second row second from the right, definitely appears to be the Amarr anti-vehicle weapon. Third row far left looks like the Amarr heavy laser weapon too. But now I'm getting off topic. Honestly I don't see why people think it would be redundant to add racial versions for shotguns.

Looks like a AR with a grenade launcher to me

I love that thing so much, have a hard time parting from it with any fit.
