Competition, it fuels people, including companies, to develop their skills, practices, products to either be at the same tier or superior to their competitors. All 3 of these games have a few things in common. They are all shooter, all sci-fi and all promise large scale battle.
With PS2 coming to the PS4, Dust will have to develop their fighting mechanics, as currently they are not up to par with PS2's. With Destiny they will have to increase the speed at which they develop their meta game.
If they don't do any of the above. They will be stomped into the ground. Or at least, the dedicated player rate will increase at a painful rate. |

EVE generates money - DUST does not, so in effect DUST is an expansion to EVE and is treated as such.
It'll get patched and bumped here and there with tweaks to mechanics and the occasional weapon pack add-on, possibly some different maps, or expanded maps with new textures like 'white' so when it snows...
That's all DUST has got.
Destiny has got Bungie. Bungie has got Activision. Activision has got $100 million market budget.
EVE generates $60m a year and spent $0 marketing DUST, in case you're wondering why no one is playing it - other than the fact the reviews are disgusting, as are the mechanics - but my review is on metacritic in full nut-cracking glory.
All these other games will do is remind the people working on DUST that they don't work for a company who is able to deliver AAA games and then market them with a AAA marketing budget.
Another thing: Destiny will launch on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Regardless of your opinion of those various platforms, they got the bases covered.
Read between the lines of these quotes from Activision. |

^True, though CCP still hopes that one day it generates money. Going to be hard to compete against two AAA titles. |

Living on a prayer is admirable, but some homeless people live on the same thing.
I wouldn't wish to be one of them anymore than I would wish to be CCP.
CCP has the greatest IP for games in their hands, and will be remembered for being a company that didn't know what to do with it. |

Fist high! for being in Villore Sec Ops, the only NPC Corp that is worth anything
I agree. Also, CCP's current vision seems to be a lot more "Vanilla" in that it seems to be moving away from being an MMO-RPG, to just a standard FPS. A lot of people will blame critics of the game for making this occur. Though, I would argue that most critics attacked gameplay, that is to say only FPS mechanics were really criticized due to needing revision. I am not sure why CCP decided to do a complete 180 from what their vision was back in late 2011, early 2012. Now it seems kind of stale and not nearly as different as it should have been.
The meta-game seems to have been put on the back burner. Planetary Conquest, which was promised for practically a year, ended up being extremely underwhelming. Mostly only the elitist of the elite play it; a lot of players don't even know P.C exists.
It just feels like CCP makes some very obvious mistakes at times. Like, forgetting to take out the gas pump before driving off, obvious.

If I played the game, I might get that joke :)

They were planning an FPS component to EVE Online in 2007, that's when I heard about it - here in 2013 we got the aftermath of all their efforts. And that joke is painful. |

The first NPC corp I was ever in was Villore Sec Ops and some of the guys I played with were beasts lol
The Dust vision has slowly, slowly, been becoming more regular lobby shooter with every new build and every update. It is unsettling. |

You obviously have not seen Eve in its infant stage. It has only been like 3 months since release and mind you that CCP is still and INDIE developer and you should not expect AAA games from them yet. |
