A very simple way to solve this would be to implement a "lock vehicle" feature similar to how the "flip vehicle", "enter vehicle", and "recall vehicle" work. Simply add a "lock vehicle" option assigned to the triangle button when approaching your vehicle.
The option to lock would only be available to the vehicle owner. (Player who originally qued or hacked the vehicle)
You would still be able to hack a locked enemy vehicle. Vehicle would become unlocked after hacking.
The option to lock vehicle would only be available for 15 seconds after exiting a vehicle.
Once a vehicle is locked no one can enter the vehicle or switch seats, however a player may still exit the vehicle.
Once a vehicle is locked it would no longer explode if left unattended. This way a player may still return to the vehicle after completion of a particularly lengthy engagement.
As a side note implementation of this would also provide the basis for the removal of the free LAV, thereby alleviating some of the LAV spam murder taxiing, as players would be more willing to spec into a vehicle knowing they could prevent it from being stolen or destroyed by artificial means (unattended vehicle destruction). |

I suspect the explosion of unattended vehicles is to prevent trolling your own team by calling in the max vehicle quota in cheap crap in the redline...and I think it's a decent solution to that problem. Other than that, sounds like a plan. |

Just simply add a command wheel for vehicles where you can set different kinds of locks: squad lock, corporation lock, total lock. Also a kick command that kicks everyone out of your vehicle if the lock would otherwise not let them in, such as a blueberry and a squad mate hop in, you set to squad lock, and then activate the kick which only kicks the blueberry. |

Idk abut the different kinds of vehicle locks, but definitely a lock and kick all passengers button would be nice. Maybe a little notification saying "so and so wants to enter your vehicle, press x to accept," once locked. But definitely need a kick passenger button. Hate it when blue dots won't get out of my tank so i can run around on foot without losing my tank. |

Frankly, now that they've removed the free LAV's, I'd say this is now bumped to "sorely needed" on my scale. People sitting in your vehicle, while you can't recall it, people trying to steal vehicles, all of this will become a pain in the neck if you ask me, just like people who shoot you to get you off the hack. |

completely agree able, we need a vehicle lock button and kick function, so as to prevent the unnecessary loss of a vehicle due to a "blueberry"
