If there was a player market or trading people would far less inclined to macro-transaction (things are very expensive relatively).

CCP probably can simply not afford to lose the small amount of hard currency they eke out at present.

The "I just bought such and such pack" threads are few and far between these days.

It seems like CCP's response to this has been "Give players less salvage so they don't have much to trade anyways." I know it's coming soon, but even if it were implemented now I can't imagine there'd be much trading going on. Probably a lot right off the bat from players who got a bunch of salvage before they lowered its frequency and quantity (and those players are probably rolling in the ISK regardless), but after that not much.

They should aim to launch this alongside a meaningful salvage system.

because the same team thats doing the item transfers JUST finished working on player isk transfers.

and therefore should only NOW be working on item transfers.

you can rest assured that the next update from that team will be item transfers, but this will be done carefully as it also involves the economy and as in eve CCP takes its econamy seriously so it will NOT be rushed and will even be held back in order to create a stable market.

Item trading is a LONG way off. Most likely next year, but that is my best guess.

Don't give in to the CCP way of thinking with using a tired trope to explain away failings.

You're saying here that CCP has ulterior motives to stop item trading. That's a load of BS. CCP stated I believe that BPOs and such would not be tradable. Outside that, allowing the trade of consumable items wouldn't hurt CCP's revenue from the game. If anything they would increase it. Also, item trading is core functionality that has to happen before other steps on the path of Eve-Dust interaction. It will be in in the next 4 months or sooner.

people could sell aurum weapons for ISK.

what this would do is cause people who want to buy isk to buy aurum, buy desireable AUR weapons and then sell them for isk.

it would increase the purchase of aurum not decrease it

the reason they reduced the salvage numbers was to reduce the impact on the coming economy, they were seeking to avoid i giant overstock of salvage items, waiting 4 months would undue that work.

i surmise that we are looking at about 1-2 months, probably 1.4 or 1.5

inventories are primed and ready for the change, and the framework used for item trading has been finished (isk trading was built of the framwork, they would of had to program the backend with both isk and item trading in mind so now its more than half finished and they are working on the finishing touches and the future market balancing)

only after that will we start to see work done of providing rewards for faction warfare.

certain things rely on other things to be developed and ready, its not hard to see how far along any particular project is.

cloaking however is taking a long long time, there was probably some seriously huge bugs with it.

But it's pretty annoying. I have collected so many rare salvage variants of weapons that I am not trained to use nor will train in them for a while and they just sit in my assets when I have corp members who could actually use the weapons

The slide gives you a better understanding of what is involved.

We will not see limited item trading until after we see taxed transfers from EvE. They mention a couple of times they need to have a stable economy BEFORE we get limited item trading.

So yeah, it is going to be a long wait.

Seriously... You think this takes that long to program? I could show you the algorithm right now.

 Remove money from Player ID=1
 Add money to player ID=2
 // for giggles
 print note in wallet
 write to log...

 done.

Now let's talk about item trades...
