I find it amusing how many people struggle to fit a suit properly to snipe. To those of you fitting 3x CPU upgrades: wtf is wrong with your core fitting skills? You're wasting sooo many low slots. To those of you stacking 5 complex damage mods: really? the extra 2.8% and 1% damage increase is worth it for the respective 4th and 5th modules? Time to take a good look at the opportunity costs here....
EDIT: keep doing what you're doing, you're making it easier for me to collect those tears of yours |

EDIT: keep doing what you're doing, you're making it easier for me to collect those tears of yours indeed, get your core skills sorted first, 3 cpu enhancers is really idiotic. Sniper fitting is the only fit I'm running my CPU upgrades on, even at that they're basic (MLT even, I can't remember) and Dampeners are completely useless and broken, core skills are all sitting at 3 and 4 right now.
I would fit 1 complex CPU upgrade, MAX. I run full proto everything with my fit and only use 1 CPU upgrade. Dampeners are a waste of time for snipers as they are only useful in avoiding appearing on the minimap. Since as a sniper you should very rarely be in minimap range, dampeners seem somewhat redundant so you're correct on that point. From this logic range amplifiers and precision enhancers are also a bit irrelevant. I would suggest fitting armour repairers, shield regulators, cardiac regulators, kinetic catalyzers or armour plates depending on your preferences in mobility and HP regeneration... both are useful. |

If you'll read my other posts you'll see I've already stated these as viable options, Reppers and KinCats, plates are useless because as a sniper you shouldn't be seen or shot at anyway.
I've read your other posts; my initial post was directed at the use of 3x cpu upgrades. After your query, I merely provided alternatives to that, all of which are more useful than CPU upgrades. Theoretically you may be correct in that you shouldn't be seen or shot at, but reality is that staying hidden in every game at the most effective vantage point is unrealistic. You will be seen, you will be shot at, and failing to take this eventuality into consideration will reduce your overall efficiency and effectiveness, as you won't be on the field as long as you could otherwise have been after accounting for respawn and relocation times. |

I have 2 sniper fits. I am completely outclassed due to the changes in game-wide changes to HP, having damage mods went from being very dangerous on the battlefield to being completely necessary. As a Scout I cannot kill people like the Caldari assault/logi or Gallente medium frame can.
The guy who posted stats forgot to take in Sniper Rifle Proficiency into account.
229.9*1.15*1.1*1.0869*1.0571*1.0283*1.0106 = 264.39*1.1*1.0869*1.0571*1.0283*1.0106 = 290.82*1.0869*1.0571*1.0283*1.0106 = 316.09*1.0571*1.0283*1.0106 = 334.15*1.0283*1.0106 = 343.6*1.0108 = 347.31
Then the 195% of a head shot gets you a total of 667.26 damage. . . How many Caldari proto suits do you know that have more HP than that? How many Gallente Logistics suits? how many heavy/sentinels? Pretty much all of them. there were 700HP Caldari Assault guys running around on May 6th.
Charged Sniper Rifle can dish out 945 with a head-shot and 5 damage mods. . . I regularly play with 2 logi's that can survive that. The Thale's TAR-07 Sniper Rifle can hit 1044 max damage. A Gallente Logi can tank that shot (at the cost of -15% movement penalty)
I, being a scout with a single Hi-Slot can deal 515.56 (Ishukone), 791 (charged), and 865 (Thale's). I need at least 2 head-shots to kill, 1 head and 2 body-shots, or 3-4 body shots to kill the regular people on the ground using prototype gear... Snipers are for Kill Assists and Kill Stealing because unless the guy you are shooting at hasn't been playing the game long, he'll move away from where you hit him to find cover. Or he'll dance around till he heals and soak another shot and be fine.
Ishukone Fitting; Gallente Scout gk.0: Complex damage mod, Ishukone Sniper Rifle, Core Flaylock Pistol, EX-11 AV Grenade, 3x Complex Armor Plates, Complex Armor Repair. Total HP: 87 shield, 541 armor
Charged Fitting; Gallente Scout gk.0: Complex Damage Mod, Charged Sniper Rifle, Core Flaylock, fused locus grenade, enhanced armor rep, complex kin cat, complex cardiac regulator, complex profile dampener.
After saying people don't understand how profile dampening works, here is the exception: with a signature radius of 22 I can run up behind every scanner but 1, and if found I can run away faster than they can.
1.2 brought about changes to the headshot bonus; sniper rifles now only do 175% damage with a headshot, as well as 90% damage to shields and 110% damage to armour.
That's a very interesting ishukone fitting; I never really considered armour tanking a scout suit |
