With advancements in technology hint hint future war. The HMG made with lighter more heat resistant alloys would be troop carry able. The HMG we have now is a joke a far cry from what this weapon can really do. I ask bring back the weapons the way they were before they were all nerfed. I am tired of being slow and under powered. I love the heavy but I am tired of dieing by the flavor of the months or by poor hit detection. Let the HMG really shine. |

In truth the M134 has an accurate range of about 1000 meters while most ARs fire accurately at about 500 meters. |

You do know that if they make guns work realisticly that...
Armor or Shields will always be inferioir to the damage a weapon can and will do?
If weapons progress along with Armor, or shields & suits will at most help us when a bullet grazes the suit, dead on hits would mean a gigantic gaping hole trough the suit front to back...
This means, any Vehicle is a one shot kill from any AV weapon, and all us troopers are one shot kills from any weapon we might be carrying, no amount of shields or advanced plates is going to stop enough damage to keep us alive...
Looking forward to dropping you from 5000m with a magnetic coil Rail rifle, trough your helmet in your phat suit while your effective range is 500m in one shot, or if i am lazy just trough the chest to make a point about your armor being on there for looks only. |

Orbitals turn the entire battlefield to glass, railguns punch a hole in you, the guy behind you, the guy next to you, and all AFTER going through the building you were hiding behind. Lasers would likely ignight the atmosphere, LAV's take dmg for every nick and prang, shields would cause SOOO many problems, and the AR's would do little more than blacken your armour. |

Yea it would be hard to walk after passing out from lack of oxygen. But I should be able to move around freely while I am still conscience. Its not like the shield or oxygen would be any heavier just because oxygen does not go through. |

With a M134 i imagine the dot probably does not care if it gets hit by 50 rounds in a second if those rounds are accurate or point blank. What's a "point blank range?" |

ROFLMAO.... No.... Just.... No.....
Next time Google the ballistics on 5.56 before posting nonsense.
The generally standard 'zero' on an AR is 200 meters. This means that you can hit a target at 200 meters just by pointing the sights at it. At 500 meters without any sight adjustment, the bullet will hit 12-15 inches BELOW the sight picture. You could zero for 500 but it would make hitting targets at shorter rang difficult as they would actually hit ABOVE the sight picture.
As for an AR hitting out to 1000 meters, it can be done, but it requires a rifle and cartridge specifically made for the task. It's not something you would try with your standard line rifle. The biggest problem in shooting that far is the round itself. As the bullet travels, friction from the air cause it to slow down. When the bullet slows to the speed of sound it enters what is called 'transsonic' speeds. The bullet often becomes unstable at this speed and flies off in a random direction with less than lethal force. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-blank_range
point-blank range is the distance between a firearm and a target of a given size such that the bullet in flight is expected to strike the target without adjusting the elevation of the firearm. |
