Maybe the challenge is just a social experiment to see what would happen in matches; it's a fairly good experiment setup, with plenty of observational data to record thanks to the diverse nature of the goals and the high number of objectives that need to be completed for each one.
Maybe they're attempting to stress the mechanics of the game, the servers, the maps and so on in order to discover exploits, emergent game play models, etc.
Also, OP, why do you have such a bad attitude? I don't get it. I can understand that some of the community may bother you but the community that is found on the forums is only a small sample of the community as a whole. If what you find on the forums bothers you so much that you have to aggressively lash out, why would you continue reading it? It's a game enjoyed by many people for many different reasons. Our subjective definition of what Dust is to us is just that; subjective.
Chill, bro. We're all gamers here. Even the trolls. |

What, you really don't think that developers don't continue testing their game? It's a game that is in a constant state of development due to the very nature of the game type. |

Chill, bro. We're all gamers here. Even the trolls. So they are still Beta testing then, right? LOL F2P = CCP not having to hire a QA team.
CCP is constantly monitoring the game to ensure that their predicted models are working correctly. This is a game that is constantly evolving and changing due to the number of players. This isn't 'beta' testing at all. It's always a good idea to stress the systems of any game to ensure that it is properly working under new conditions. Developers cannot always predict what sort of exploits, tactics or mechanics a player might utilize to gain an advantage. It's data collection.

Very much.... we helping CCP to develop the game for free, a new F2P model perhaps ? FTD ( Free To Develop )... opss.. me bad..I can see the Banning Hammer pointing in my direction... Better run...
By nature of playing any MMO-styled game, you are helping developers develop their game in real time. Do you think it is any different than millions of players playing a non-MMO, where new bugs/exploits are found and then patched by the developer? |

Quote:Yet they still can not for the life of them figure out core FPS game mechanics like balance, hit detection, aiming, and matchmaking. But hey who cares right, its not like this is a FPS or anything.
Blizzard has millions upon millions of dollars at its disposal. Every patch they release you can see changes made to the classes in order to finely tune the balance as players discover new ways to use the mechanics that cause unexpected results.
I would also hazard to guess that Blizzard also has a larger development team than what Dust has.
I would also hazard to guess that Blizzard would never allow World of Warcraft to be free.
Dust 514 is not going to be a 'static' game where it's shipped out like Call of Duty, Battlefield or other similar FPS games. Dust 514 is an MMOFPS. There are going to be periods of adjustments, errors and balances that are required. The development team is attempting to create something that, while requiring what you perceive to be 'basic' mechanics within an FPS, is also working within an entirely new substrate of game play.
I can understand that it is easy to find yourself growing bitter and jaded at what is perceived to be technical errors; the PS3 is notoriously difficult to work with, I believe you can find many developers attesting to this fact and yet here we have a product that may not be the most polished piece of game design created, it is something entirely new and unique to the world of FPS and MMO that you can enjoy entirely for free. |

Excellent. I would really love to see the data they manage to collect from players in both Eve and Dust; the behavioral data must be very interesting to look at, Eve (and soon Dust) are the only games that I know which have such a high level of socio-economic meta-gaming. |

Do not bring up Blizzard and WoW when talking about how balance should be done right. Blizzard doesn't even communicate with their players on the topic.
That wasn't the point; just that any game, even one as big and 'developed' as WoW, is constantly being re-balanced. Context. |

Bon appetit CPM = Monkeys on a string. They are there to appease the weak minded individuals and brain wash them into thinking that this game will be great someday, SoonGäó, in the timetable, on the Horizon. Don't give me LOL tasks like hacking so many things in a given period. Give me real content deserving of my time, like new game modes and maps. Don't even get me started on the LOL prizes. No free market yet so who cares about the free LOL gear. Pfff what a waist of time and this Mordu's Challenge is.
Sounds like you should play a different game.
