I'm locking this thread for 24 hours for all the bumping and moving it to The Locker Room. Please remember, you are not permitted to bump threads outside of corporation recruitment (and there are additional rules in that subforum for bumping: see the stickied post there) CCP Logibro // EVE Universe Community Team // Distributor of Nanites

Please remember, you are not permitted to bump threads outside of corporation recruitment (and there are additional rules in that subforum for bumping: see the stickied post there) I would like to thank Logibro for posting on this thread, its good to know I got CCPs attention on this, even if it may not be the attention I wanted for it.
Since I my Bumps managed to arouse CCP attention, perhaps my dear friends at CCP Shanghai could relay this request to the Marketing/Sales Department of CCP Iceland.
Again, from my OP, I have heard that the ETCs used to be sold in card form. Also, they were discontinued.
I am assuming they were discontinued because nobody bought them enough for the Major Retailer (i.e. Gamestop, Walmart, etc.) to consider them a viable product.
Of course, this was when EVE could be considered, a Underground Hit/Surprise. Now, considering the Sizable amount of EVE subscribers, half a million, no doubt it is more well known, and through that, people will hear of it, and see the cards next time they go to said store, remember the ad the saw, or the friend they have who plays it and says its good, and buys a Card.
Money in hand, subber in pocket.
Again, I would desire more replies as to keep this post relevant, and more posts from devs and CPM.
Thank you.

What your asking for will not happen, and the reason is vey likely economic. I'm sure that any brick & mortar retailer gets a cut from the sale of these cards, otherwise they would never have carried them in their stores, plus the cards themselves cost a certain amount to manufacture, plus distribution costs of actually getting the cards to the stores. CCP cuts out the middle man by processing subscriptions online, probably using their own merchant account (that I'd bet has a much better rate than most retailers, since I would expect they have a pretty low CB ratio). They don't have to buy the physical cards, they don't have to pay for distribution, for manufacture, for probably a sales forces to keep in contact with the stores to make sure the product is moving correctly, to pay for the loss or destruction of cards, to pay somebody to design the cards, then redesign periodically to maximize sales, etc, etc, ad infinitium, ad nauseum.
You're basically asking CCP to make it more expensive to process recurring subscriptions. They are not going to intentionally cut into their own profit margins. It's never gonna happen. Give it up dude. |

Its 2 by 3 inch card that's 1/8 inch thick.
I mean not to troll you, but you can buy Hard ETC from various online retailers, a list is right here.
So CCP isn't paying any more to make the cards then to they are now, and they already have a card design on the Interweb, they just need to transfer it onto a 2 by 3 inch piece of plastic with a scratch off sticker to cover the code.
So, there's the Making of the cards, the cards designs out of the way, so all that there really needs to be accounted for is the shipping and handling for 2 by 3 inch plastic cards.
Now I don't play myself to be a master on the intricacies of Mailing, but usually, its by weight.
And I also don't play myself as a master of gravity, but 2 by 3 inch plastic cards don't really seem very heavy, so you could pack 15-20 dollars worth of product, i.e. game time, in a very small, and light package, and all you have to do is just make em, and get the major retails, like Supermarkets, Game Stores, the Odd Convenience Store, to buy them, and they can mark it up whatever percentage they want to, as from then on, its on them.
If they don't sell, then I don't believe that its on the cards not being wanted.
You just saw 2 and a half pages (I say that, cause half this thread was me Bumping it for CCP recognition) of people that said they would pay for these, just as I would.
It then would be the Retailers fault for marking it up like crazy, and expecting it to sell.
That is all.
I seem to be a fan of great long spiels whenever I post on this thread. |
