If you want RPG, play EVE. Dust 514 is supposed to be a MMOFPSRPG additional content to the game will not ruin it but help it inch ever so closer to what it was supposed to be originally. |

You can explore the district in open world, clear out drone infestations, gather materials, set up outposts and of course have huge open world running wars that span whole huge districts, not set go in a game, fire bullets, make cash, like you do now but actual exploration, maybe finding that crucial ore deposit that makes millions for capsuleers. Oh and you can then incorparate loyalty points into this, clearing your nearby district of nasty space pirates has never been so rewarding :)
With 7000 players and over what do I know how many planets? Is it a nice idea? Yes. Would it work? Not in a thousand years. You would need millions of players for it to be fun. If you don't have that many most of the time you would just look at an empty landscape. |

Open up new planets to explore as the playerbase expands, also not all planets in EVE are suitable for human life. |

And then what? We have some planets which can actually interact with Eve Online and people in other region just ran out of luck? Planets suitable for life? There are still at least double as many as there are systems in Eve online. Not to mention that Dusties have these nice suits which can actually protect them on hazardous planets. It just wouldn't work. |

Then do it bit by bit. Start by doing one system, then slowly expand, yes it'd need a lot of people but if this was the game then people would flock to it. I agree having some planets unsuitable for life would be smart as it'd limit how much work would have to be done. Each planet is like a small server unless some (lets say 5 people) are on it at one time it closes down. Other planets will be NPC owned (high sec) and always open for missions. Most of EVE is empty space but its still fun which is a bit of a flaw to you logic, not insulting your view i see where you're coming from though |

The most fundamental, and jarring, difference between Eve and DUST is the lobby shooter match structure imposed in DUST.
I think to get the show on the road it was the only way to go, CCP didn't really have a choice, they had to make a lobby shooter.
From what's been said before by CCP devs they're as enamoured of the open world vision as we are, it's just a matter of time(i.e. years, prolly).
But, for my money, it is the way we're headed.
This is New Eden it does need to happen eventually, because lobby shooters are are the most safe, most sterile and most boring form of PvP - that's just so inferior the universe we mercs and pilots live in. |

Yeah, Defiance is a TPS, and from what I hear, its a Crap one at that!
I'll stick with DUST, Red Dead, GTA, AC, and Star Wars Battlefront 1 in my game line up, thank you. |

The FPS side is okay. There is too little EVE for New Eden. I don't mean only matchmaking and open world but also stats and design. |
