The only thing you lose by playing instead of farming is ISK and it's up to you how much ISK you lose. this is actually not true... lets say you have a really bad match where you get say 300 wp and die 7 times... if you had just camped the MCC you actually get more sp and isk than if you participated...and bad matches aside I was in a match where my team won and I MCC camped and got 18000 sp and then I was in a match where I participated and my tean lost and got 15000... I tested this and on average my statement holds true... but aside from this lowering the perceived value of isk and sp for participators is enough... its demoralizing and frustrating and makes the whole experience less fun Are you sure that losing wasn't the reason you got less SP and no the fact you participated? Were the matches exactly the same length etc as these details matter when you're determining how much SP or ISK you get. |

that is probably the case but my point is why should I ever get less for participation than camping |

The solution is actually very simple. You guys are all making things way too complicated. If you want to fix the AFKing you simply switch the rewards. If you obtained 5 SP per WP and 1 SP per second you would instantly see afkers stop because its not worth the time and effort to go back and start a new game to AFK in if your reward is 1000 SP per match (vs the current 4-6K per match). Honestly this is an old topic. CCP does not want you to AFK in the MCC but they do reward AFKing. They did this because carebears in this game wanted a way to earn SP without having to play well. This is what we get as a result. |

I don't really understand why this is such a big problem. Stop playing if all you want is SP and ISK, if you play for the reward of destroying that bastard's tank, or that proto suit who keeps killing everyone (like I do) then stay. |

your lack of understanding doesn't make this a non issue and your assumption that isk and sp are all I play for is uninformed at best...
to keep it simple for you this unbalances a game where its supposed to be 16v16 when you have players handicapping their team by not participating or risking anything and earning almost as much or more than you.... would you accept less pay than someone else for the exact same job?

Someone brought up that making the inside of the mcc a red zone. So there is a time limit for staying within the zone before death. That would at least make the mcc a no afk zone. As for non mcc afkers, just set an engagement timer. If they don't engage in combat. (Take or deal damage) after a certain period of time they get kicked from the match. |

Here is my solution, if a player spends more than x amount of time in the MCC the do not get any SP or ISK for that match. X can be a set amount of time or a percent of the total match time. That will at least get people out of the MCC and AFK on the ground where there is a chance they could be killed or LAV thrown into battle until a good solution is found for ground AFK. |

What we really need to do is encourage a more realistic FW system by joining whatever side we want to lose and mass-suiciding. |

not sure if i have this post in this thread but here is my idea once again. And it compensates for all forms of afk and rewards play like any other game out there. you actually have to do something to get something. Amazing concept...
Im curious has anyone suggested a system that involves just transfering WP over into SP?
And Make it hooked to WP for entire sqaud?
For one attaching it to total sqaud points encourages sqaud play, as well as joining and playing with a Corp.
Currently its 5sp per second in match and 1sp per wp.
So what i can think of currently :
Sqaud accumulitive WP *2= "SWP"
"SWP" - 4000="SWP2" If SWP2 <0 then SP= SWP else SP= 4000+"SWP2"/2
And instead of removing bonus sp after cap i suggest removing the multiplier with this system.
This would effectively remove AFK'ers from the game, and reward sqaud play. Plus make being a dropship pilot viable even though i did have one match where my pilot raked in 750 WP with me gunning, damn good match that was but rare considering how easy they are to shoot down usually.
Note: I kept the bonus cap so low because with a sqaud of 2 i can easily make that cap, but with a sqaud of six iif all six players get 1k WP With a Cap of 4k you would be seeing every player get 8'000 SP. So the numbers may need to be played around with to get a happy number but should be averaged out for a 4 person sqaud in my opinion.
ex. 4 player sqaud all earns 1000 wp
4000*2=8000 8000-4000=4000 4000/2=2000 2000+4000=6000
Personally im happy with that as a normal average. Not sure what everyone else thinks on this though i know i will often see less than that but as long as i see one orbital pop i know ive gotten 4500 SP
If this system would be put in place CAP/Multiplier can be modified per Mode.

if all your doing is flying around in a dropship and doing absolutely nothing else, you are being pretty useless imo... a design flaw on CCPs part to have such a role... perhaps...having a mobie cru aboard though should fix that... |

True but i can still transport people quickly from point A to B without a CRU and i could still be effective ,so what then? I better hope somebody shoots at me?
Im playing devils advocate, if their are any holes they need to be worked out. I still prefer my idea one because its mine i admit. But also because it rewards play instead of punishing you for not playing, if you dont play guess what you dont get anything, I believe isk should be worked in there too
X amount ISK per kill+X amount ISK per WP
and if you get a % of what your sqaud mates earn as well then all of a sudden you have guys that didnt used to sqaud up doing so. The sqaud leader can still kick people so if someones in the sqaud AFK and trying to leech then boot him. Hes AFK he probably wont even notice. And he wont get anything at the end of match and he should stop doing it.
