So first off, nobody can shoot anything IN or OUT of the [ TEAM SPECIFIC ] Red-line area.
Second, When traversing OUT of the Team Specific Red Line, you cannot re-enter that border for 2 minutes.
Effect this would have on game: A. No redline sniping, MCC sniping, sniping people inside MCCs, red-line rail tanking, camping team's forced behind the red-line. ETC.
B. Nobody could abuse the red-line by ducking behind it to snipe constantly because of the timer restriction on friendly re-entry.
C. Enemy players could still go in and out of the enemy red-line freely since there is a 20 second timer till their own death so..
D. Gives camped teams all the freedom to exit when, where, and how they like with a reasonable degree of safety.
E. Camped teams could actually make a comeback perhaps.
F. the redline. |

Their plan eventually is to have the MCC moving anyways, which at that point, I'm assuming, would remove the red-line all together.
However in the interest of not waiting a decade as with most CCP features, this is an easy to implement solution that more or less covers all the bases.
All they would have to do is draw a distinction in the code between normal map-zone redlines and those in front of the MCCs. The rest is cake.
IN FACT if they don't want to deal with collision walking back into your own redline before the timer, why not just invert it: Making it so that if you walk back into the redline near your MCC, you have 20 seconds to leave before you're killed.
It's as easy as flipping a switch :P |

Team A can now do nothing but suck it.
You mean Team A can now safely call in an army of LAV, HAV, DS. Load up transports, swap gear out, regroup, send a massive blitz through different parts of the line to different objectives and turn the game around?

"massive blitz" assumes that you can shoot the enemy. Maybe this would work, maybe it wouldn't, but I couldn't imagine this happening without an absolutely massive overhaul of the currently existing maps.
idk my military terms, perhaps it would be called a counter-offensive. load up two dropships, that's 12 people who can quickly get past any block-aid attempts at the redline and back to objectives. |
