It makes more sense, considering the dropsuit is power armor. You'd want to stab vital spots since it would give you the most damage for the energy used. Slicing an armored foe with a dagger is kind of meh, but shanking would require more realistic animations and attention to physics. |

If I could modify a heavy suit to hold more armor and house a small afterburner for forward lunges, I think I'd be mad not to grab a big ass sword. I can eat shots because I'm in wicked heavy power armor, and all I need is one good swing to give a splitting headache, so to speak.
Swords died out because there hasn't been a reliable defense against firearms.
Enter super suits.

That's actually not a bad idea.
Maybe some kind of single shot, long reload plasma blaster built into it as well. Extremely short range, designed to obliterate impaled enemies that somehow haven't died. |
