1 it will be designed to fit into the EVE universe from day one. the economy will be tied with EVE from day one. All suits and weapons and vehicles are manufactured by EVE pilots, and the market will be player driven. (manufacture resources will be from all over EVE) The winning and losing of Dust 514 matches will have huge impact on the contracted EVE players (e.g. they need to hire a Merc team to wipe out rogue drones / another player attacking the planet before they can continue with their PI farming, or moon, or whatever you have in EVE)
2 The concept of risk and reward will be fundamental from day one. only the winning side will gain any ISK or loot, while the losing side will loose the ISK they paid for their suits.
You start out as a merc in high-sec, you will do PvE missions (co-op) or do PvP combats (similar to ones we have now) to earn ISk and SP. (in high-sec all matches are skill-matched, all loss are insuranced so that you will only lose 10%, and all winning ISK will be taxed heavily, and loot will be very limited).
You can choose to head out to low-sec (less insurance, less tax, skill-match switched off) and 0.0 (you will lose 100% of the stuff you used without compensated by insurance, but if you win you will win it back from the contract fee, also no tax, no skill match). Same thing for PvE, if you cannot succeed (contract failed) you will lose the jumpsuits and get no ISK.
Noobs will be able to start out in high-sec and play in a protective environment (low loss low gain) or a more hardcore environment in losec or 0.0 (high risk high gain). (these matches will be contracted by Eve alliances... and the outcome will determine ownership of planet and systems etc)
3 the concept of first person shooter will be built in from day one. This will be a call-of-duty-in-new-eden, but with extra customizations of weapons and modules. The first person shooter game will be the foundation, and the connections to Eve and all those meta stuff are just add-ons surrounding the fps game. So the first person shooter will be a solid game experience before anything, so there must be no lag or glitches or anything.
4 It will be a spectacle, a true e-sport that takes place in a cyber universe, heavily contested and dynamic, steep in risk and reward and fame, a cluster-wide chess game of bloody and immediate first person actions where every action really counts (because you will need to pay for every jump suit and you wont get compensated if you lose). Don't use the Duvolle AR you can't afford in skill and isk and SP.
5 Hire someone other than CCP to write it because they obviously lack the know-how to get these concepts executed. |

Alucard Fang wrote:Better at least. It doesn't need to be Battlefield either. It needs to be Dust. Yeah, it would be great if all those things were here now, but they aren't, things don't always go to plan, you gotta get over it. You do realize also, by the time this game is re-made, especially if you want all those features in it the moment it comes out, it's very possible CCP could have already implemented them... Give them time. If you don't feel like waiting.... Quit, come back in a year or two to a hopefully great game and tons of SP to spend. The thing is it won't be implemented in forever, this is an informed forecast based on how quickly/effectively CCP has been fixing/implementing things so far. |

Asher Night wrote:bolsh lee wrote:I used to believe this is what dust was going to be similar to... This, as I was playing skirmish 1.0 hyping this game to friends now it just feels like an expensive CoD clone with college frat boys behind the wheel.... I disagree (but in all fairness I've never played CoD). To me it feels just like what it is: a game that was made by people who have never made an FPS, and who think they can slowly do what they slowly did with their first game, and 10 years later people will still be playing it. The only reason EVE worked is because it's literally the only MMO space ship game to go to. It's on PC - PC gamers have way more patience. Dust is on console - console gamers have way less patience. It is also FAR from the only space type FPS to play. PS2 is going to be serious competition for this game. I seriously doubt Dust will have things in competitive gear when the PS4 comes out with it's entire slew of games. I want to make one thing clear. We all understand that Dust is going to die anyway so we are just doing a kinda "examining the body while it's still warm" sort of thing to make the dying more... dramatic... and... educational. |

FATPrincess - XOXO wrote:Agreed with everything except #2. The losing side only gains ISK paid by the EVE corporation for the invasion costs, salvage, etc. and also SP. The winning side gains EVE corp salary for invasion, salvage, etc. + the planet's resources converted to ISK and other bonuses. So the losing side affects more the EVE corp because it always has to pay its mercs win or lose.

Alucard Fang wrote:There are a few DICE members working on Dust, so yes, they do know how to make one. Do you ever read the EvE forums? 10 years ago, last year, and even today you will find Doomsayers posts like yours saying the game is dying. It's not. And it won't. Dust has no competition, Dust will find it's niche like EvE did. Dust isn't meant to compete with Battlefield or COD. What COD player would enjoy this game? Not many. It's different and it isn't supposed to be going against them.
Planetside 2 is decent at best. They've actually banned players for showing game breaking bugs. Look it up. They ignore their community and there are several bugs that are not fixed, even though they're old. PS2 can be fun, but it's average and not as deep as Dust can be. Do you know the Secret Cult of Blood Red Skies? We predict the death of New Eden, that's our job, aint nothing gonna stop us!
I didn't even mention Planetside 2, no need to jump into defence so fast |
