Tthe PS3 consumes basically the same amount of power either way, whether their sitting in the MCC for 20 minutes or actively playing for 20 minutes. A laptop hard drive is designed with power conservation in mind. After all, they can be run entirely off USB power. I have an adaptor with a built in controller that can run both IDE and SATA laptop drives off a standard USB port, so it should be a very small difference in consumption, depending on whether there is heavy drive activity (remember, this game runs from the HD, no optical media in play here). So, whether it would be a noteworthy increase might depend on how often the active player would be respawning vs. the AFK player. It could actually be an interesting event if both sides in a skirmish were to sit completely idle in the MCC. Considering the Null cannons wouldn't be bombarding, the skirmish could go on for an absurd amount of time (unless it has a built in time limit somewhere I haven't noticed). Just imagine the SP reward for time if it took an hour or more for the MCC's gun ports to shoot one or the other out of the sky? Could make a compelling case for them to get off their duff and do something about MCC AFK play, eh?

You'll have all the redline snipers crying then. they would be the front line, and we all know how much they hate entering combat.
