DUST is meant to be an ISK sink to EVE. "They have too much isk". So yeah they will pay me to do their dirty work, at first. Then when DUST is flooded with EVE isk we will be buying eachother. |

As soon as I stopped caring about K/D, I've had a lot more fun to be honest. On a side, note I've saved a lot of money on controllers! I don't crush them anymore. |

Of coursed kd matters you idiots. Its an FPS. But 99.9% of people who say it matters, play with it in mind so theirs doesn't matter because its manufactured. |

I don't think it matters.
Considering that Most of this game's life wasn't recording Skirmish stats.
The thing that I hate is when people/corporations call you a bad player because of your KD
I'm perfectly fine with my 1.88 KD |

I guess KDR is useful if your anti infantry but I run AV medic so don't tend to kill that much but make 1500 to 2500 wp per match with a 4/1 so for me no |

LOL running around with remote explosives diving into enemy lines and pilling the trigger in that moment right after death before the world goes black. the last thing you see is +50 +50 +50 +50 on a side note this game is about profit, the game is pay (ISK) to win and if your team REALLY wants to win the objective then they can run full proto and die a million times to get it and they will win. on the other hand the only real objective is profitability being able to afford decent gear and knowing when to run it is key. so essentially its ISK/Death thats one of the most important metrics. K/D is a bad metric in this game because of how easy it is to just focus on K/D and skyrocket that one stat, but in return be completly useless in actually winning objectives
Hmmm...Jihad Scout.
Those points I put into explosives might be more useful than I thought.

I have a 5.55 KD as an assault and I always try to have fun in every game. I don't think KD is everything but it could be a factor to who can survive longer or who can cause more deaths to the enemy team. But as bragging rights? No. KD < Having fun!! |

No. As long as its 1.1 or over you have nothing to worry about.
Winning the objective is what counts. Making money isn't a bad thing either.

First thing I noticed about Dust that I love till this day. Your K/D does not matter!! Your performance and how you assist your team does! I love that. For one, it shuts down all that K/D talk from other multiplayer FPS games. Secondly, even the guy that is deemed to be not the active killer but a good team player gets some shine for a change.

If I'm running around in BPO, standard, and militia, while acquiring top standing warpoints, I couldn't care less about my KD. When I play as scout, the ability to remain unnoticed and hack an objective is worth the death on the way out. As a logi, if I bring 2 teammates from the dead before falling myself, that is a good death. I have a lot of ISK and I get a lot of Warpoints.
Hi my name is Tallen, and I have a .64 KDR |

in new eden a single variable is important
winning in the long run
the only thing that matters is if your team wins or looses their strategic objectives
how you win or loose is completely irrelevant, if you reach your goal, you are good |

I killed you last night, so add that to your kd. Lol just playing, I think it depends on ur roll, scouts may have bad kd but other than this build they could take 4/5 scalps before death so if I have my team behind me rush your squad kill half ur squad my squad kills the rest of you an takes the objective that's better than all of us dying cuz when my cheap fit dies to distract your squad of protos an my team hits an kills ur proto squad with a semi circle attack we lost 20 000 isk your squad lost a million. In that case it's worth it |

People always say K/D doesn't matter but they are wrong because of generally 2 factors:
1) Most FPSes have a killstreak mechanism, you dying = feeding the other team's summonable weapon drops/UAVs/orbital strikes/etc etc. So dying directly advantages the enemy team.
2) You being face down in the dirt waiting for respawn means you are not there helping your team take/defend the objective from the enemy team, your team is now -1 gun. K/D is a measure of how much you cause the other team to be suffering this problem compared to how much you are imposing it on your own team.
In Dust we have the added factor of ISK in vs ISK out. Dying lots means you have less ISK to run your best fits and call your best vehicles when it matters.
So while KD may not be a measure of a good player (because it matters how you spent those deaths) it does have a direct effect on the game and your effectiveness as a team player.
PS: The other thing I find amusing is how EVERYONE on this forum allegedly has a 3:1 KDR which is an interesting mathematical conundrum. |

people who post on the forums are alot more likly to be better at the game than the people who dont, raising the overal K/Dr average of those who post on the forums.
we are a small minority of the active playerbase. |
