I support the idea of weird plantlife 100%!! would make the game much more visually enjoyable and attractive for new comers! maybe even venomous or killer plants :D

Yeah, I'd love it if the skies had multiple suns (even casting dual shadows) making it really obvious that there actually are two suns in the system, lighting the planet we're fighting on.
And I seem to recall really bright suns that actually caused me to squint at the screen. Whilst not advisable for most matches, why not have them sometimes? Dynamism ftw.
As for plants, please! Anything will do. Dotting the distant mountains, perhaps. Growing in tubes in research facilities. Crawling up walls of the abandoned compounds. How about hiring a biologist for New Eden, since we've already got some economists for EVE? :D |

This might be a bit of a stupid question, but would bio-luminescent plants in general and ones that react to the presence of players in particular be possible?
I don't know about you guys, but I think that it'd be pretty cool if some night-time maps had grass that glowed blue-green normally but when stepped on would change colour to yellow or red. You could do a similar thing with trees though those would have to have a detection range or something. |

When jungle/forest/foggy maps are out, that'll be my favorite time.
Also, foggy just gave me and idea: Maps that favor a certain class. Or map variants. Not actually giving a buff or bonus or nerf to any class when on that map, but make a physical and/or atmospherical difference to that map to make playing one class a little easier.
When Active Cloaking is a thing, for example, having fog on the map would (Just by logic) make you harder to see. Having fog makes shimmers in the air less noticeable, and stuff. Even if it's not that thick, it'd be a little more difficult to spot someone cloaking.
For the Heavies/Assaults, design the maps to where there's "hotspots" sort of. Like, a lot of roads and halls and side-rooms, and then one room that is a big engagement point. I couldn't give an example, but make it have enough entry points to make it a popular area, and give it two distinct sides. That way, you could create prolonged, standing firefights where both teams are trying to push at the other team. Of course, make some corridors blend with others, so someone on one side could get in behind the other side, for a flanking opportunity.
Logistics: I'm not sure. The hotspot idea would make Logistics shine as well, so I guess that works to.
And lastly, a jungle/forest area that's easy to get lost in, but no so easy that you could lose your squadmates by blinking. It'd create a sort of "alone" feeling if you lost your squadmates. In an atmosphere where it's easy to lose your teamamates, added on with fog and complexity, it'd make for some very cool engagements or areas. Just my opinion though. In a game, the sense of being lost and without help is pretty terrifying, and feeling fear while playing a game helps immerse the player. In my experience, at least. |

As much as I love this idea, I can only imagine how risky maps if the idea was fully realized in mind with laser weapons. Crystals may act as focusing beams or splitters creating area kill zones with well placed shots. |

If you really want to think 'out there' in terms of terrain design, why not have mercs fight on the surface of a sleeper dyson sphere. This would integrate with EVE corporations scrambling to scan and harvest technology. Dust mercs would provide the footholds for these competing corporations to maintain a research presence and their salvage operations. However, after a point the sphere would become aware that it is being pilfered and awaken automated defenses.
You would have a texture mesh that is deliriously mechanical. |

The next best thing I can come up with for map textures is the etching and scarification of Europa's surface.
There's also a lot that's eerily beautiful in the colors to work with here.

Would it be a cop out for the terrain department to put salt flats in the mix? I'm hard pressed to say if that would stifle game play if everyone was on a level open battlefield with miles of visibility. |
