CCP Nullarbor wrote:We are working on improved matchmaking but it won't be based on skill points like you suggest because that mostly indicates how old a player is, not how good they are. I am hoping to write up a developer blog about it all when we are closer to release.
But rest assured, we want to make sure people are having fun and balanced matches without creating artificial fences around groups of players.
Besides the "Mostly" part; who do you really think is gonna win in a fight between two different player with vastly different SP amounts?
Lets say that P1 (Player one) has 6,500,000 SP and that P2 (Player 2) has 43,500,000 SP; that P1 is more skilled than P2; that P1 has one type of prototype gear vs. P2's full prototype outfitting; who do you really think will win?
Sure, maybe if P1 manages to catch P2 off guard he'd win that fight (1vs1 First clone to die)... but, more than likely P1 won't.
Since P2 is not only a veteran and knows what he/she is doing, has completely skilled into what they want to specialize in.
Possible differences in the amount of skill; lets say.....
P2 has decided to completely skill into (as an armored tanker, w/ high dps output) Medium Gallente Drop-suit, Flaylock Pistols, Core Drop-suit Operations, Shotguns, Medium Gallente Logistics Drop-suit, Weaponry, Sidearm Operation, Light Weapon Operation, Armour Plating, Armour Repair Systems, Shield Extension, Shield Recharging, Shield Regulation, Cardiac Regulation, Hand to Hand Combat, Kinetic Catalyzation, Precision Enhancement, Profile Dampening, Range Amplification, Shotgun Ammo Capacity, Shotgun Fitting Optimization, Shotgun Operation, Shotgun Proficiency, Shotgun Rapid Reload, Flaylock Pistol Ammo Capacity, Flaylock Pistol Fitting Optimization, Flaylock Pistol Operation, Flaylock Pistol Proficiency, Flaylock Pistol Rapid Reload
P2 has decided to somewhat skill into (Level 2-4) shielding, drop-suit biotics, vehicle command, caldari LAVs, and caldari LLAVS.
Compared to:
P1 has completely skilled into nova knives, nova knife proficiency, sidearm operations, drop-suit upgrades, drop-suit biotic upgrades, Cardiac Regulation, Hand to Hand, Combat Kinetic Catalyzation,
P1 somewhat skilled into (Level 1-3) Shield Extension, Shield Recharging, Shield Regulation, Profile Dampening, Range Amplification
Might/probably won't make sense to you (Since its 3:45 A.M. = I'm tired). Bottom line players with more SP have a huge advantage over player with less SP; the SP cap does not. Help. Us. At. All. It only helps CCP by giving players who want to catch up an incentive to buy boosters and aurum.... |
