Hello everyone! This is addressed to CCP (Wolfman particularly) I don't know if it's intentional or not, but me and a mate noticed that if you have an armor plate and then you put a ferroscale plate your speed increase. I mean: My fitting with a Complex Armor plate: Sprint speed 5.92, Movement 4.23 My fitting with a Complex Armor Plate and a basic Ferroscale: Sprint Speed 6.01, Movement 4.29 My Fitting with a Complex Armor plate, and two basic Feroscale:: Sprint Speed 6.20, Movement 4.43 My fitting with the 3rd basic Ferroscale is : Sprint Speed 6.39, Movement 4,57
So I have 160+ HP with really little speed penalty....seriously??? |

It's a stacking penalty bug.
Stacking penalties work fine when the numbers are positive (e.g. +10% damage, then +8.6% damage etc)
For negative numbers like -10% speed, it sorts them in the wrong order so if you add a lot of -0% or -1% plates, the -10% plate will be stacking 'nerfed' down to -3%.

Maybe this should not be fixed?
Maybe this should be kept to keep people from whining that armor is worse than shields? |

Here is a better idea: maybe they should fix armor tanking. |

Um, to clarify, is your speed perhaps going up because you're swapping complex or lesser armor plates for ferroscale? |

No; just adding a ferroscale to an existing fit (taking off an unrelated module) is enough to increase your speed towards your base speed.
The higher level and more plates you fit, the more you notice the difference. |

Simple example of what Sponk is saying:
Loadout 1: - complex plate: 100% of 10% movement penalty
> This results in a 10% movement penalty.
Loadout 2: (with a ferroscale plate added) - ferroscale plate: 100% of 0% movement penalty - complex plate: x%* of 10% movement penalty
*Not sure what the correct numbers for X is but it's less than 100% because of the stacking penalty.
> This results in a movement penalty that is less than 10%.
Can we also stop calling it a secret? It has been posted on day 1 of patch 1.2 already. |

Obviously a bug, maybe only display in nature, but a good one I think. It's kind of a good idea - armor working cooperatively. |

It's not a bug, but it is stacking penalties.

Its not. Stacking penalties are designed to both decrease the effects of stacked modules, while never allowing an additional module to be a net loss. In this case, an additional armor plate should never make you faster. This is absolutely a bug, and I suspect CCP would prefer to just fix it quietly in the next build than acknowledge it, perhaps confusing how the stacking penalties are intended to work.

He's using 4 lowslots, is still slightly slower than his base speed, and still hasn't fit any reps. |
