I don't care how badly I get flamed, called out, ostracized, whatever - this new strafe speed has got to go.
I call for CCP to return the strafe speed back to 1.2 levels. The new strafe speeds introduced in 1.2 encourage "twitch gameplay" and discourages tactics and smart gun game. The new strafe speeds also give a HUGE advantage to KB/M users who can be spotted miles away pirouetting all over the place.

You have it backwards. Go play Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament and see how strafing was back then. Better strafe speed is a good thing because fights don't always go into the favor of who has the fastest trigger finger. |

I will say the same thing in this crappy thread as I did in the other. Strafe speed should be faster but this is a good start. Game plays much better now, It rewards players that can move there body while keeping crosshairs on target. We just need aiming tuned up and the game might be fun again. BTW FU to the people that want it slowed down again. PS Strafe speed was already slowed down a little over a year ago, We are only getting back about 5% that they took away. |

At the very least tying it to movement speed stat would be a start. Homogenising strafe speed was a bit of an odd move. I do like the faster strafing myself but it shouldn't be the case that a heavy and a light are equal in this regard.
Scouts could do with a bit more emphasis on their mobility advantage. Higher strafe speeds than other suits would be a good start. The unique ability to reload while sprinting, maybe? Could be interesting with a Plasma Cannon, make them a glass cannon hit 'n' run bombardment type.
Backpedalling could also do with a speed penalty. At the moment it uses your full walking speed. Lesser priority though.
For the general gist I reckon mediums should be just slightly less nippy at strafing aside from Min who has around current values. Heavies ought to be a decent amount slower and lights slightly faster. |

This has been discussed to death in the past. Strafe speeds make the game more fun and exciting. CCP has made their decision. If you can't hit someone while they are strafing in this build then you need to HTFU and L2aim. Strafe speeds are not as high as they used to be in replication. This build is a very good middle ground.
Now everyone meet in the mcc for a dance party and get drunk on the flood of tears harvested from these threads. I will bring the coke.

New strafe speeds have placed an even larger imbalance on Shield/Armor tanking and made CQC options like Shotguns and Nova Knives near useless.
Dust shouldnt be trying to appeal to BF3, or CoD, or Halo - it should have its own niche without trying to appeal to acertain crowd. Doing so is only hurting player retention and Twitch Shooters never sat down with one game for very long, which is what Dust needs right now. |

Fairly certain Imperfects are the only ones who like faster strafe speeds. |

The vast majority of DUST players, or really FPS players in general, lack the ability consistently predict and then readjust their aim to get a hit, over and over and over again. So in reality, what this does is further push the segregation between less skilled players and those who just play a lot / are lucky enough to have lightning hands.
So really, mechanics like this will only serve to further frustrate the players who are already being stomped by older players, and in turn will only decrease player retention, rather than increase it.
It will also lead to TONS more of THIS (I AM the one who told CCP to do stuff for the lulz....guess it's coming back to bite me) |

Dude if anyone ruined this game it was your kind. You have no concern for balance and apparently no useful knowledge in game development, trying to turn a high HP team-based game with large maps into an infinite weapon range twitch shooter. This game needs its own niche, not to follow with what Infinity Ward is already marketing, and you need to understand that.
Not that you will. Youre self interested and if youre not the only one who can win then it must be broken or ruined. There is no "get good" in this kind of game, rheres balances and counters. Its advanced rock paper scissors not "fastest shooter wins". Gtfo. |

I like the new strafing speeds even though I prefer the more tactical play than the twich play and never really liked COD or BF. It is actually great fun. Maybe it is because I used to play Doom, Quake and Unreal allot before taking a break from FPS games.
Only downside is that everyone is running around and it has gotten more difficult as logi to find a blue dot group to rep and revive. I also had to strip off the old plates for the new plate modules to keep up with everyone else. I feel bad for the snipers, it must have gotten much more difficult hitting anyone. |

I was just bringing up a more relevant game that has old school style strafing and character building that somewhat resembles Dust 514. Unfortunately, I don't say any arguments as to why strafing is bad aside from people trying to argue that it's making the game more twitch/arcade style, which is completely bass ackwards. |
