In summary, the Scout Suit has lost its appeal and competitive edge since Chromosome. I'll attempt to bring you up to speed in an unbiased manner with regard to our beloved suit's slow demise.
Uprising 1.0, Dropsuits: The Medium Frames introduced in Uprising were so strong that they became the only viable option for competitive play. The Legends we associate with the Scout suit (Stelli0s, Sleepy Zan, Sontie, Oha Yo, Re-Flex, Morathi III) recognized this fact, some switching suits immediately while others held hope of rebalance. All eventually adopted Medium Frames.
Uprising 1.0, CQC Weaponry: Nova Knives were resurrected as a viable option for casual play. While "Minjas" are highly vulnerable to insta-kill on detection, they're deadly effective and lots of fun. Sadly, the stats of every "Minja" suggest that these guys die as often as they kill. Shotguns and Mass Drivers were nerfed into oblivion. The Shotgun so badly that Calamity Jane and Annie Oakley announced their retirement (a couple weeks ago).
Uprising 1.0, Ranged Weaponry: The laser rifle was unseen between Uprising 1.0 and 1.2. It may be making a comeback, though I cannot personally confirm whether or not it is usable. The Charge Sniper Rifle was reclassified as prototype and remains an effective instrument. Though due to the new Scout Suits comparatively low eHP, we lost many Scout Snipers to the all-powerful Medium Frame.
Uprising 1.0 and 1.1, Rebalance History: On the release of Uprising, tankers and heavies and scouts all expressed grievance. Tankers and heavies were buffed within three days of Uprising's release. To date, Scouts have remained overlooked. Uprising 1.1, scouts were afforded a slight reprieve when the Devs nerfed the CQC-dominant Tactical Assault Rifle. The Devs shortly after introduced to the market a new scout killer, the fused locus grenade.
Uprising 1.2: The Devs addressed numerous issues with regard to overall performance, the aiming system, terrain mapping, weapon range, hit detection, etc. Players have unanimously expressed appreciation of the improvements introduced in 1.2, and this build is the most playable version of game since Chromosome. Unfortunately, the numerous improvements came at a cost to Scouts, who are now easier to kill than at any time in Dust's history. In its present state, the Scout Suit is aptly described by our remaining veterans as nigh unplayable. Those of us who remain Scout are awaiting our turn for Dev attention. May it come quickly, before our ranks dwindle further.

I'm so choked with this patch! It's the endurance nerf that's ridiculous! I can't run an jump an dodge, or scramble for cover anymore. The delay on your endurance is horrible, even with a complex regulator, which means no 2x kinetics which had me at 10.36 now I'm a sitting duck, one rush through a squad knifing an ur out of gas before you turn a corner, the only option is proto all the time an trade out a complex shield for a enhanced shield energizer which puts shield hp at 236 instead of 343! Advanced suit forget about it! I got so mad yesterday I dropped the knives an went galente scout instead of mini an busted out dual core faylocks wit a compact nano complex kin, enhanced CPU chip, flux, enhanced side dam, an complex shield an got a 17/4 match out of it only cuz my squad was beating the pants off em! Then I switched to dragonfly assault for basically using a suit other than a scout for practically the first time ever, I hate it! My style was SPEED! Squrrel on crack my buddies called me , now it's like my scouts on bloody muscle relaxers! If you run an jump twice your a sitting duck, left to walk away from a billion bullets wit 200 shields on a adv suit = DEAD! I spent 12 million sp in only a scout play style , 3 proficiency weapons, faylock, knives, shotty, all useless now except god lock! An my proto mini over 2.5 million-GARBAGE!
Not even sure what to do now, they say next patch is October or something I'm not even sure about playing just to get angry as hell! Going from 20/2 matches to maybee break even with 10/10 at the cost of 500 000 isk a bloody match, ridiculous. I seen one scout last night that's it! Our suits should be able to out maneuver EVERYONE PERIOD! Now were all the same except we have to literally walk for ten seconds in a hail of gunfire with 250 hp an a meta level 1 proto suit, Gtfo! Don't know about u guys but I'm pi$$$3d! It's that damn endurance, if our enduranced worked like 1.1 an had the new movement then BOOYA but forget about ccp, damn cod now , LOl sorry bout the rant! |

Thanks a lot Shotty, really appreciate it!
Although I have been all through it, untill first weeks of 1.1, your lay-out is a good reminder for all of us. I could hardly imagine better answer to my question. Thanks again.
Sure they will continue with this 1.X updates coming and address us in proper way; if I may say -- we are waiting for it so long.
It all started with old strafe-nerf and other changes back then when the Scout campus slowly stared to deplete, and with this situation it will only hasten the much needed buff our frame needs.
C.J. and A.O. were Assault Shotties from Codex times IIRC, but the info that they left completely saddens me. Though, remember seeing Oha out of the suit and STELLI0S "experimenting" with Logi... I knew black days are upon us.
Good for game over-all to have better hit-detection and boosted performance, and the astronomical price our Light frames are paying can only mean the change is near. Hopefully not soon(tm)-near.
So now when we do not have to fear to fall any deeper, we may only hope road ahead is uphill. |

played yesterday, aiming and FPS are much better but damn, the strafe speeds allow everyone to dodge us, hit detection is still bad, but yersterday was worse than ever (might have been my internet), but there was a nerf to stamina of some kind, i run slower and my stamina depletes much faster and now we are sitting ducks, i was so frustrated that i almost bit my controller, shotgun scout is not garbage, but its very hard and very frustrating, sure you can go positive, but its not very rewarding anymore since we die a lot and many times we lose the isk war |
