You might also want look i to the core-skills like engineering and elentronics (the skills that give you extra CPU & PG) You would need these later on! Are you planning to actually play a logi? There is a nice guide for this somewhere in this section of the forum: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=79304&find=unread Sounds like good advice on the extender issue. Especially with the triple xp week coming! But yeah I'm thinking of going full time logi. Caldari seemed like a good option, I don't know to much about minmatar but I don't like the look of the suits to much lol. Given your stated desired playstyle, priorities in order IMO:
- Logi III for the C/1 suit. It is great. - Drop Uplinks I - Shield extension V for complex shield extenders - Nanocircuitry III for K-2 nanohives and 50% injector (the latter only used for squad mates; otherwise not worth the extra isk) - Assault Rifle Operation III - you want to run a Gek (unless you have a non-AR weapon of choice); as a Caldari logi, you are a frontline logi as opposed to a Gallente who I would classify as more of a complete rear support logi; your extra HP allows you to be right there next to your assaults, and the lack of a 4th equipment slot means you have to make tough choices. - Repair Tool Operation III (before nanocircuitry if you have a heavy that you run with on a regular basis); you want to run the BDR-2 or BDR-8 as expense and fittings allow.
FITS: You want to get to a point where you can run the following on a regular basis and stay ISK positive before you move into proto gear. A lot of your responsibility is staying alive, so don't rush into the fray solo and lose a bunch of suits: equipment is expensive.
Dropsuit fitting basics -
Logistics C/1 Dropsuit 3x Complex Shield Extenders 2x Basic Armor Plates 1x Gek-38 Assault Rifle 1x Grenade-of-choice (I prefer Packed AV; try to get M1 grenades if you prefer standard grenades)
Equipment Option 1 - K-2 Nanohive / BDR-2 Repair Tool / Nanite Injector Equipment Option 3 - K-2 Nanohive / Drop Uplink / Nanite Injector Equipment Option 2 - K-2 Nanohive /BDR-2 Repair Tool / Drop Uplink
Opt1: Your 'classic' logi build. You can revive fallen comrades, repair them, resupply them, and get them back into the fight. This is a good way to run if you prefer to stay off guns. Use cover, stay with your unit, and keep people alive and supplied.
Opt2: Combat medic build. You're on your guns 90% of the time, have nanohives for personal and squad resupply, drop uplinks to farm WP and dictate areas of engagement where you want friendlies to spawn in to support you, and an injector to pick up buddies. Works best with a shield tanking assault squad where everybody has personal armor repair and does not rely too much on armor to survive.
Opt3: My personal advanced fit of choice; a hybrid of the above. I find Drop Uplinks more useful because an injector doesn't help the guy who got blown up by a grenade - which is more often the probable cause of death if I am repping someone - and there are more people running injectors now that will get to the revive before you. Great for farming WP for orbitals as well. You can run and gun and back off to rep people.
...
Beyond that, you're getting pretty niche. Remote Explosives are a niche kind of thing that is a playstyle preference; go for it if you want to try it; it makes for some great funny kills but IMO the positioning and setup of an ambush takes too long for a support logi when seconds count. Proximity mines I don't really recommend at this stage because 2x Packed AV will do the same job on standard LAVs and non-proto Proxy's won't do fuckall for Logi LAVs. Active scanners.. meh, leave it to the scouts. You should be with your squad not finding the enemy. |

Oh... so yeah, other skills. Any of the "fitting" skills like electronics you should be training last. If you need more CPU, train for CPU. I know it sounds backwards for anyone who has played EVE, but that's the smarter way to go in this game. Basically work your way up and get the skills you need so you can fit what I listed, and then try upgrading modules and working on support skills.
Beyond that, I would say grind out to a proto weapon with Proficiency III and THEN go for your proto suit pretty quickly if you plan to get into competitive corps. Or the other way around. Doesn't really matter; I prefer to have a bigger gun on a cheaper suit. Just don't spend too long trying to maximize support skills... basically after you can fit what I listed, work on your proto weapon and suit. It's the best bang for your buck at that point and increasing core skills will just incrimentally make your end-game suit better. |

What was CCP thinking?! D: Gal, Cal, and Min all get 12 slots including equipment. /shrug ... we are personally tankier at the expense of an equipment slot (means we're not reviving, not repairing, or not drop uplinking) |
