look I want a Shield v Armor theread of my own
Just to state I tank everything Shields,Armor,Shield Regen
Armor
Pros Mediocre HP boost Basic can take 2 AR rounds Complex can take 4 AR rounds (balence) Repper tools (Balanced)
Cons Slow (broke) Low rep speed (balanced)
Broken Stuff Ferroscale plates have little Health(semi-broke) Reactive plates have little health/reps (semi-broke)
Shield/Regen Tanking
Pros Fast Regen(Balanced) Modules aren't broke (Balanced) No drawbacks (semi-broke) Can move at full speed (Balanced)
Cons delay to recharge (balanced) Less total EHP with the exception of the one broken suit (Balanced)
Personal Fixes
PG/CPU can remain unaltered Ferroscale Plates 25-50-75 HP Complex Plates 30HP 1HP/S reps no speed penalty- 45 HP 2HP/S 2% speed penalty- 65 HP 3HP/S 4%speed penalty Armor plates 70 HP 2% speed penalty -90 HP 3% speed penalty - 130HP 4% speed penalty
Scan/Hitbox penalty?

Guys just need to chill...they should lower the pg usage for the new armor plates. But not a big deal if they don't.. everything in this game has a give and take effect to it. It is fine |

How many working weapons get extra dps vs shields? Are lazers fixed? The scrambler needs a tighter spread IMO. Any cqc weapons do better vs shields the way OP flaylocks do more to shields any Andes that are like locus that do more to shields? I know shotties don't. How about the fact that armor dies 2nd... Anyone considered the effects of that? The fact that shields must die first before armor? If armor was first to go when getting shot flux's would be op.

Like i said in many other posts, i think the key to balance armor vs shield is to add a penalty to shield. There has been many suggestion on various topics on what it could be (radar signature, bigger hitbox, etc..-¦
But the real key would be to tie a bonus to reduce those penalty depending on the suits : - Say Amarr and Caldari suit get a -5% to shield and armor penalty per level - Gallente -10 % to armor penalty - Minmatar -10% to shield etc..
The purpose being to make dual tanking less interesting as at the moment it mostly favors shield user with the ferroscale and the reactive plate added to the main shield defense that is penalty free.
With such a system, you could in fact raise penalties to in fact have them lower that what they are now while skilling up.
Another possible way to look at armor penalty would be to lower base walk movement of the armor oriented suit and NOT have the penalty applying to this specific stat (so sprint only). That way, you can actually compensate for the penalty (which you cant now due to the fact there aint no module to buff back base speed)
To sum this up, you should have two clear profile :
Shield : makes you glow, medium buffer to HP, high regen rate Armor : makes you slow, high buffer to hp, slow repair rate |

Buff damage mods and low slot module that encourages people to run a single tank. Buffed damage mods would help make glass cannons and armor tanks that deal higher damage. Getting players to sacrifice something to gain a bonus on their stats instead of just maxing out defense.

Dude as much as Im sure you put some thought into this/.... you aint nearly on the level of Kitten Empress, Arkena Wyrnspire, BL4CKST4R, and Goebel. Check out their thread see what you think and then post. I promise you what they suggest in there is the only fair way to balance Armour tanking vs shield tanking |

Change armor plate speed penalties from 3% / 5% / 10% to 3% / 4% / 5% Change armor repairer base repair rates from 2/3/4 to 3/5/7 Reduce reactive plate fittings noticeably, change the repair rate and speed penalties to 1/2/3, and make the repair systems skill affect reactive plates. Reduce ferroscale plate fittings. |
