I'm glad I'm not the only one that got scared from the headshot sound.
Reviving seems to work as it should now from the couple of revives I did (I'm sorry for the darkside logis revives I did, just had to test it out). It seems that the body gets frozen upon getting killed and will continue with the ragdoll when the user of the dead body decides to bleed out? Atleast that's how it looked like from the funny frozen red dot on top of the rock in manus peak that started to fall down a couple of seconds later (and respawning a few seconds again after that).
1.2 seems a step in the right direction, hopefully this will continue in the next monthly updates! |

The gunplay feels a lot more natural and more like other FPS's with the range change. 10x better than 1.1.
Combine that with framerate improvements and that alone is worth the patch. Still some improvements to go but its definitely gone from totally unplayable and unfun to reasonable and playable.
Still reserving verdict on terrain until I get some more games/experimentation in. |

Communication, feedback, and concrete improvements are what will get people participating in the F2P model. For a lot of us, this is the first F2P game with microtransactions that we've ever taken a serious look at, so there's an additional barrier in getting people to spend their money -- its not like we're all used to this. Even more so if you consider the backlash from Eve players against the microtransactions concept as introduced in Incarna. Its the goodwill earned with Crucible and Odyssey, and my trust in CCP to deliver on Dust's promises that got a player like me to splurge on the Elite Pack for this game (because as it stands now a lot of stuff is just promises, orbital bombardments are old news). So much of what will make-or-break this game is based on intangibles and simple goodwill between the players and CCP. And think, just last night I spent $0.25 worth of aurum on some tank turrets... its a whole new world.
Players want more than to have some fun for themselves, they want to see the game succeed as whole. That's why its very important to even veteran players to get a NPE in as soon as possible, and I strongly suggest that it be at least iterated upon if not finished by the release of Uprising 1.3 |

Glad to see it's an improvement. Maybe now, in a year or so Dust will start being more like those old trailers we saw. Of course it won't look like them graphically, but still. I do wonder why the graphics got dumbed down though. I know the first trailer was running on the Carbon Engine, but the second one shown at Sony E3 2011 was running on the Unreal Engine, and looks nothing like this game. |

But THIS was the unreal engine. And still looks vastly different from the game. That's what I was wondering.

Wondered why my butt was getting kicked all over the battlefield. Took 2 matches of being run over, blown up and killed ih 3 shots to realize, I'd better learn to duck more often. Before I could go toe to toe with my douvalle. Weapon good....dropsuit..needs a few updates now. Waiting for 3x SP day. Very exciting. Love the way my Injector works now though. Much easier.

CCP Eterne wrote:Guys, I'm glad to see the positive feedback. A lot of the issues with aiming people have been having we've actually discovered are related to game performance issues (such as the frame rate improvements Cat Merc reports). We're working on correcting those and have some other fixes coming in the future that should improve them even further that should make the game play a lot better.
Aiming issues is unrelated to this. Before 1.2 there were instances that my fps dropped harshly but the aiming was unaffected yet still bad. It seems to be more related to connectivity because while on US servers (my region), the input lag is somewhat manageable, on the EU side it was near impossible to play as the input lag drastically increased (aiming, firing weapon, hacking, going into vehicles...). Try doing internal testing with connection speed of 4-5 Mb down on different servers to see if it affects aiming. |

Yeah stop complaining dood. It does stink at first, but is satisfying to crawl from the bottom to the top knowing you had to die a few thousand times to get there. Every player had to do so. I've been playing for 3ish months and constantly get top 5 or better in pub matches. Maybe it's not your gear indeed.

I try not to complain too much about things like this, but I have to agree that there is a major balance issue in this game. I will go ahead and say that I truly SUCK at this game and I feel sorry for any team that gets stuck with me. The problem is that this is my first fps. I would like to get better at this, but it is rather difficult when I find myself against seasoned vets and find myself dying before I get a chance to join a firefight. I have improved a little by just sniping (I have the most fun on the game when engaging other snipers with my bottom of the barrel militia sniper rifle) or sitting out the battle altogether when I am in a horribly unbalanced match and getting a bit of practice in during the rare even matchup or if it is unbalanced in favor of my team (even then it is difficult to practice since I hardly get to see an enemy before my teammates wipe him out). When last I checked, I had pushed my K/D ratio up to 0.46 which is a very nice improvement over my 0.31 that I had after a few weeks of play. I honestly wish there was a practice mode where I could battle A.I. enemies with an adjustable difficulty, doesn't even need to have sp or isk rewards. I just want a place to go hone my skills so that I can someday be an asset to the team rather than a drain on the clone reserves. I am sure that will never happen though since the Devs have their hands full working hard on the rest of the game.
