Even though CCP failed hard in the balance department, I have some nice things to say about the game now.
My first match was a snow match, which is awesome, because I f'ing love snow. I noticed that because of the mood the map was very dark, and I will talk about why I loved it later.
First thing I did was call in an LAV, and man that was quick! 3 seconds after I called it in, I had an LAV to drive around in. I also noticed the women's voice didn't say "ETA, 15 seconds", I guess it's a good thing they removed that.
First thing I did was push R2, which turned the camera around, and I thought "well, that's weird". Something changed in the controls in Uprising 1.2, I had to go to the settings and change it back to what it was.
So I was driving around, and I noticed "wait, this is smooth. Is this running on a stable 30FPS? No way...", but it is! It felt so great that I did some loops on the ground as a little victory dance.
Once I got out of the LAV, I thought "hmmm, I wonder how I can test the new range". So I saw a blaster turret far far away, almost couldn't see it, and I took a shot at it with my Duvolle AR. And it hit! I was amazed, no more disappearing bullets!
I went ahead and hacked a blaster turret, and then went to a dark spot and put an uplink in it. I noticed that the radial menu worked much better, heck I could do quick switches that before would confuse it. I saw an enemy go hacking the blaster turret, and I shot him in the head. The new headshot music scared the hell out of me lol
I went to capture the CRU, and had a firefight. First thing I noticed is "wow, now that it's running on a stable 30FPS, the controls actually feel good!". I had no problem aiming.
Put down an uplink near the CRU, and waited for an enemy to spawn before I start hacking, in case there is one coming right away. And there was, I killed the proto caldari scum and went ahead on hacking.
After that I helped in a firefight to take a control point (I forgot which it was), and I repped some people. The rep effect looked nice, so that's a plus :)
So I want outside and felt relieved. I felt relieved because I finally saw some light. The darkness in the complex I was in was unsetteling, I felt like there are enemies everywhere and I couldn't see them. I moved in the shadows to keep myself hidden.
Once I was outside I noticed there was a fight for a bridge. I went there, put a nanohive down for my team mates who were fighting there for a while, and started helping. My team got obliderated, only I was left alone to fend off 3 proto Caldari. Now that the aiming felt right, I could actually have a chance to fend them off, I killed one, heavily wounded the other to make him go into cover and ran away under the bridge. The non damaged one tried to get me, but I used the box under the bridge to give myself time to repair. After I was 75% repaired I faced him and managed to get headshots thanks to the aiming feeling right. I went on and confronted the last guy, who forgot about me so I had an easy kill.
My team mates came back and captured the bridge, I repaired some people, gave them some ammo, and moved on to the last objective.
That fight was a bloody mess, I barely got out with 20 HP on my armor (out of 530). But we got the control point, just barely.
The match ended with me going 14/0 and my team winning a crushing victory. (Our MCC shields weren't even close to be down)
Overall, this game feels more fluid, better, and FUN. That's right, FUN. Something I didn't have in this game for a looooong time.
My favorite part was how dark the complex was, so I used the shadows to do sneak attacks on enemies. |

I really appreciate the constructive feedback as well! If they fix armor vs shields already, I swear I will flood this forum with positive feedback. |

I really appreciate the constructive feedback as well! Woh, haven't seen you around. Are you new to the Dev Job? If so, congrats! I am new :) Little over a month, been working hard with the DUST514 Community Team to get communication in tip-top shape! We've basically been forcing our devs to tell you what they are doing! In between the whips and 28 hour days. jk jk :P If whips and 28 hour days is what it takes to create updates like 1.2 then go ahead, we won't tell the police. |

I do wonder why the graphics got dumbed down though. I know the first trailer was running on the Carbon Engine, but the second one shown at Sony E3 2011 was running on the Unreal Engine, and looks nothing like this game. It was running on the Carbon Engine when this was still a PC title. When they decided to move it to the PS3, they had to use the Unreal Engine as Carbon was too heavy for the PS3. They didn't lie. |

If you read that, you'd notice I said I know it was running on the Carbon Engine. But THIS was the unreal engine. And still looks vastly different from the game. That's what I was wondering. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKtYqWBR7h0 That was pre-rendered. It was never claimed to be in game footage. |
