Hey guys. I have been looking through the forums for some type of Assault guide but can't seem to find any. Am I missing it or is it just not here? I am running Caldari assault and would like to read up on whats best to spec into, useful tips or tricks, just anything. It seems like all the specialty classes all have tutorials (heavy, scout, sniper, whatever) but I can't seem to find anything for Assault. Thanks in advance! |

Don't really know of any specific guide. However, if you are going to run assault then you are gonna be on the frontlines a lot so I (being the assault player that I am) specked into armor, shield, and of course light assault weapon. If just being on the frontlines is what you are looking for then. I would suggest going with shield recharge, and armor plating. That will give you more hp and allow your shield to regen faster with the appropriate modules attached to your class. You can also spec into hand held weapon upgrades to allow you to attach damage modifiers.
I personally run, basic light damage mod, basic shield regen, and basic armor plates. The only reason I am not running adv or proto is due to not specking into those yet.
Let me know if this helps |

Kind of a jumble below but IMO...

Caldari assaults are line movers. Their speed enables them to pull off flanks and mix it up at closer range. Assault shield bonus combined with inate shield tanking allows these guys to survive independent of direct logistics support and allows logistics to focus on HVY support. Operate between the lines and around the edges.
... learn the capabilities of your chosen weapon because that defines you as much as anything else. AR or tac AR is a good start; shotgun is good if you like fast CQC fighting; other than that is pretty niche.
... Learn to switch to sidearm and be effective with a flaylock, smg, etc. depending on your playstyle so you can finish people off. Always fit at least a basic armor repairer so you can get back to full health during lulls in combat if you survive an engagement, and your high slots should be as many complex shield extenders as you can manage. Second low slot is going to be a basic plate or enhanced shield recharger... or kinetic catylyzer again, depending on your play style. Get shield and Armor upgrades to level II asap as the benefit to HP is great starting out.
... Starting out, survivability is more important than extra dps so again... extenders not light damage mods. practice using cover a lot, learn to circle strafe, and learn the maps so you know where your potential enemies will be coming from (usually behind you) and learn what you can and cannot kill. hit from the flanks and ... aim. Do not hold the trigger down when you are not aiming at anything (sounds dumb... but remember it...). Fit equipment and use for your team's benefit as well; if you are a newer player you want to get nanocircuitry trained up so you can use K-2 nanohives; basic injector so you can pick up fallen comrades is excelletnt as well especially if you are a TAC AR user (do not need ammo as much). Don't forget grenades - Packed AV works wonders on militia LAVs and tanks and flux can save you against proto caldari assault/logis.
... Pay attention to your surroundings and play tacticall - audio is a big queue that can save your life - and don't rage on comms. Speaking of which, get into a decent corp/squad, get on comms, and practice effective communication and movement as a unit. Try to follow the "We Were Soldiers" training program of "There is ALWAYS one more thing you can do!" and always be moving, checking corners, laying down nanohives, throwing grenades, etc.
... hope that helps. Like I said, a jumble, but hopefully something helpful in there. Your job as an assault is to kill the enemy. Everything else is just details. |
