This week CCP finally acknowledged what many of us have suspected for a long long time:
When this eventually gets fixed it will have a massive impact on shield tankers and the balance gap between them and armour tankers will close significantly, maybe even giving armour the upper hand. I can't wait! |

sure and the time that you are under fire is like 1-2 secs max before you would die. Shield recharge is still superior due to their faster regen. And you can enhance the shield regen and shorten the delay with modules. Armor has only HP extending modules and repairs and thats it. |

Yes because 3 seconds with one or two shield regulators is significant right?
Sorry bud, Armor has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more problems than just shields having a bug in the recharge delay. |

Heh, okay, maybe I've overstated this all a little but I still think it will make a big difference. Instead of losing all your shields and then they're suddenly back up a second later, you'll be waiting at least 5 seconds for them to even start, even with 2 complex regulators. |

5 stars! Hey genius, that's how shields are intended to work. There is a delay for a reason >_> |

5 stars! Hey genius, that's how shields are intended to work. There is a delay for a reason >_> it adds a layer of depth in 1 on 1 fights, you have about 4-6 seconds before their shields kick back in so you need to make sure your magazine isn't empty by that time so you can interrupt their recharge timer. that is if you don't outright kill them.
now it's going to be "lol spray as fast as i can and hope a bullet hits to reset their timer" skilless crap |

They need to leave it alone because if it's taken this long to become an issue it's obviously not that big of an issue. So what if they're shields come back sooner a little sooner? If they're behind cover it will just mean a longer wait and if they're exposed you should be killing them instead of timing their shields. Either way this bug is seriously not even a factor in why shields are superior to armor as far as I'm concerned. CCP tried to port armor tanking directly from EVE and it just won't work in this game as nobody wants armor suits to be able to soak up bullet after bullet while repping the damage.
Also I can see this getting broken as hell as I'm sure when they change it friendly fire will also reset the timer or some such nonsense. |

Also I can see this getting broken as hell as I'm sure when they change it friendly fire will also reset the timer or some such nonsense. It means that their shields start recharging even under fire. The repair under fire quality of armor is the ONLY advantage it has over shields, and this problem mitigates this.
It has been a problem for a while, but I only brought it forward now because I wanted to make sure this is the case. I needed to test it to be 100% certain. Kitten Empress, the one who posted the thread the dev linked, is my alt. |
