I would say Likes are a better way to judge if a person knows what he's talking about around here. Check the top 20 most liked people and see if you'd listen to there advice or opinion. *Flashes his likes* This is ultimately the best way, sans the Like farmers part. Take Arkena Wyrmpsire's posts in Feedback about Armor/Shields imbalances, for instance. The guy collected input, formulated new points, ran numbers, organized it all, and posted two very long and detailed threads about the issues surrounding it. But I don't think I've ever actually seen him in game, not on that character at least. I doubt he's in the top 250 anything, besides Useful Forum Posters.
This is majorly true. I agree 100%. It's the like farmers who have all the nerf threads that have been killing my patience. But w/e the truth comes out like you said right? |

See this is kinda what i'm talking about....this guy uses a politically charged concept like judging by leaderboards when in reality the truth is I never said any such thing. I never said to use any of the leaderboards to judge them, only their wrpoint acculumation over the last month and a half (since uprising hit) which can be learned from the info broker's top 250 players (because it's based off of wp accumulation over time). |

which is why I said that it would be a factor, not the only factor. Obviously I know a person who doesn't play much may come up with the most amazing Planetary Concept idea I've heard of, or assert a brand new idea into a weapon balance thread no one had even considered, but most of the time you just get people with lots of likes throwing their weight around in nerf/buff threads spewing nonsense and insinuating they should be the authority on the subject and know the weapon better than the guy who performs at 5x their skill level and uses it enough to be on the top 250 list cause they know best, and there's no room for opinion outside of there's. It's a regression of amiable debate

Wait sinboto simmons is a scout? (says so on shottygo bang's scout registry thread (post uprising scout) The guy who is leading the QQ about the massdriver sucking in another thread uses it on scout suit? j/w i don't know...but knowing the proto weapon uses like 11-13 powergrid...and a scout suits low health doesn't seem to play to the strengths of a massdriver IMO. Maybe just because you did horribly as a heavy with nova knives doesn't inherently mean it's a bad weapon and broken... |

Oh and the thread you speak of was a testing thread for a report the mass driver is fine(well not fine but certainly not underpowered a few tweaks to splash radius/damage would be appreciated but really not much to worry about) and I do very good with it if I do say so myself , despite the extra skills needed to even put the proto version on my cpu deprived butt ^.^.
I get notifications from that thread from time to time too(just got one lol) so someone's keeping it aloft but it's not me anymore |

Well all I know is that I try to help out sometimes but eventually even when I'm trying to help someone decides to troll me or someone with no idea what he's talking about starts flaming me for my idea, whether it's good or bad.
Now on the other hand I do have quite a few bad ideas lol. It doesn't mean I need to be flamed for throwing in my opinion/idea though. |

You know, maybe a person who doesn't play as much, might have a different perspective, and a valid one as well.
You know, we aren't all kids on summer break.
I think you should judge a comment on the validity of that particular comment. If a comment can't stand on it's own, then it isn't worth much, no matter who says it. Incidentally, this is one of the principles of the scientific method. Judge by merit, not reputation, because reputation can be easily abused, and is a poor measure of merit.

Yeah, I read your comments. What I'm saying is, IMHO, you should base a post on the merits of that post alone. In other words, really, you should not even know who posted it. Even considering their "rank" is a bad idea. This is, of course, just my opinion. Other's are available |
