CCP Rattati wrote:No way am I plowing through 813 pages to find the answer, so I will just post the question directly here.
If it can be done, what do scouts think of passive scans not being shared in squads, only active scans. If that is technically possible, maybe we can work on some of the scan/damp mechanics in a completely different way and CA scout won't be the be all and end all it is right now due to that.
That could lead to different hunting playstyles of various sig/scan profiles instead of the wallhack circle of death.
Independently of any ewar changes we mean to boost Amarr and Min Scouts in some way, not major way and also buff Assault, not nerf Heavies nor Scouts. If we can do that and not have to hit CA scout with nerfs, then that is our preferred path.
All good feedback appreciated R
I think passive shared scans needs to go, and I play Caldari. We already discussed this once in this thread, where I gave the three scenarios below:
Regis Blackbird wrote:With the removal of this function, it boils down to three options:
- The scout deals with the target himself, risking his own life but obtaining the element of surprise.
- The scout verbally tells his squad about the position (to keep the element of surprise), but the squad will not have detailed info of the exact whereabouts and direction of the target.
- The scout "paints" the target with his active scanner, but in doing so alerts the target that he is targeted for execution, which gives him a chance to defend himself.

Can't speak of the cloak as I use it way too seldom (I am not a dedicated scout). However, I do run a cheap speed hacker fit with a BPO shotgun and hardly any skill points (like max level 3) in shotguns, but can still OHK most medium frames with it, and 2-3 shot heavies.
I have always been amazed how effective even a BPO with little skills can be. Is it OP? I honestly don't know, but right now it fulfils it's purpose, and I don't plan to put any more skill points in shotguns. |

Actually, I think a good compromise would be to seriously reduce the scan radius when the cloak is active (something that CCP Rattati hinted will be coming, perhaps in 1.9?). This would mean a scouts role would be to provide Intel to its squad, but have to be uncloaked to do so.
I have to admit I sometimes run a Caldari scout (proto) with boosted precision and shotgun for the giggles. Running around invisible and 20/20 vision on everybody else (even some cloaked scouts) is fun.... Broken, but fun |

One Eyed King wrote:CCP Rattati wrote:explain to me why low level scouts can't use the cloak, is it because it doesnt damp, or they don't have the fitting for it. If latter, why not increase the cloak fitting bonus or reduce pg/cpu on std cloak? Std cloak is not worth its fitting cost. It provides no dampening, and when trying to use it to traverse open areas, its duration is so short that you end up becoming uncloaked halfway to your destination. Adv would be more useful, but really even then you end up gimping your suit unless you have Lvl 4 in a racial scout. I would reiterate that I think the cloak is in a place where you might as well just reduce the fitting costs and open it up to everone. Let whiny Assaults that think the cloak is a "win" button try it out and see how much it helps.
Why not normalise the duration for all tiers, just providing increased dampening at ADV and PRO. I would then prefer to have two different types, standard and tactical, where the standard have long duration (for traveling long distances) but hardly any damps, and tactical with short duration and larger damps.

I get that every box can't have great crops but seriously with the amount they hand out, and what's in them, they could atleast make key drops more frequent....
I think the drop rate of boxes need to be reduced drastically. Yesterday I could get 18 boxes if I completed all daily missions, which is silly taken into the fact I got a few from normal EOM salvage as well. I collected 10 of them and opened 2.
I would rather have them rare (max 1-2 per day) and bump the quality of the items within them higher. Keys should of course still be much rarer (like 1-2 per week, max).
This gives some excitement when you DO get a box, and thus are more likely to shell out some AUR to open them if you don't have a key. Now it feels just like normal salvage, just not accessible if you don't pay up, which is NOT the feeling you should get.
I really like the idea of strong boxes, but now they give them away like candy. |

CCP Rattati wrote:True Adamance wrote:CCP Rattati wrote:True Adamance wrote: I'm wondering how you all view the CP measure. Would it lead to a more competitive and organic a mercenary economy or a less competitive one.
This is the synopsis. "Don't own something, that you can't defend" From my WIP document: Corporation Members need to Finish Daily Missions, earning Command Points for the Corporation. Any Corporation Actions require Command Points, and thus, the activity of a Corporation is limited by the size of the Corporation and activity of its members. Wealth accumulation is through Active sales of Clones, that are generated on Districts. Wealth can also be generated through Tax income from Corp Members. Corporations will also be able to attack Districts using Clone Packs that only cost Command Points, making money by inflicting more losses on the enemy team than they lose themselves, using the new "Keep what you Kill" ISK reward method. Black Market Kredits are created and distributed equally to all Corporation Members on Clone Sales. BMK's can be used to buy Black Market goods, such as unique BPO's and gear. Sorry I meant in the sense that would the changes make it any more or less likely/viable to operate as ringers or mercenaries under the proposed scheme. I certainly understand the concept of "don't own what you can't defend" but what about if you can financially afford to own it? Does this encourage or hinder in your mind a free market mercenary culture within PC or does this leave such groups with less room to move into PC without meeting the prerequisite 16 man team on the same timer? E.G- In eve when you want to get even with certain people but lack the numbers of the inclination to get your own hands dirty and have plenty of ISK you get Mercenary Corps to do it for you. I've thought a lot about this, and dust isn't EVE. EVE has escalation and power of numbers. It also has a way to grind ISK in multiple PVE ways. It also has a lot of empty space, where you can start in highsec, lowsec and grind into zero. That flattens and lengthens the powercurve quite a lot. Harder in DUST, so either we lay down the law and try to make it so everyone can compete, or we turn it from a 0.0 to a lowsec, which means Concord, and less freedom. In the end it's about meaningful hardcore endgame, not something that is impossible to get into.
Have you considered to open up PC beyond Molden Heath? A larger arena together with bonuses for holding whole planets and systems might create such a "grind to zero". (Given that distance matters of course...)

CCP Rattati wrote:yes,
and if you really want to know I thought of a corporation warbarge that would have the final module a miniature wormhole generator, opening up wormhole space planets.
And the next to last, a miniature warpdrive, to raid out of MH
Typical CCP answ..... wait what?? Thank you for the straight feedback!!
Even if this is just on paper as of now, this is very good news its even considered. +1
If I may speculate a bit, it almost sounds like a corporation has to be a certain size / power to "break out" of MH. (Given the earlier info that the corp warbarge strength will be a total of each member warbarge).
If so, then MH might be a "training ground" for smaller corps until they hit MH and the ultimate price... workholes
