I mean really. I either win easily or lose easily. There are no close matches, at all. its just always a ****, for one side or the other. Half the time I lose I don't even bother really playing. I'll play militia suits because their whole team is in proto and we lose in ambush 47-0. or never cap the points one time in skirm or dom. Vice versa. |

I wonder if it isn't people deciding to not try once they see they are a little behind... then it's time to hide in the MCC or otherwise worry about KDR instead of having fun.
If they took the stupid KDR stat out it might help... people are too worried about that baloney to just enjoy the battle to its fullest. |

I see close matches all the time...
Just last night I played a skirmish w/ a 5-man squad against 2 full squads on the other side. The enemy team did a good job of pushing objectives and half way thru someone in my squad said "I don't think we're gonna win, but let's make 'em pay!" A couple min later our MCC only had like 5 bars left but we noticed that they only had 15 clones left. We made a mad scramble to kill everything in sight and won the match at the last second.
But tbh, if you want close matches play PC.
Oh wait.... that would make it one sided against you. :P |

Well I don't use corp i play alone and my KDR is less then 1.0, I honestly don't care about KDR, its probably less then 0.2
Trying to use adv gear in matches, I have fun every other match. THose matches I have fun in are the rapes, the ones we lose are boring and lame and make me want to stop playing the game altogether. I cant remember the last time it was competitive, this game has some of the worst matchmaking |

I've had many close matches in pub skirmish matches. Actually the minority of those games turn out to be one sided. I have seen those matches where as soon as the enemy holds the majority of cap. points everyone gives up. If that happens I just leave the match. It's a waste of time, and I'm not one to turn this game on to just sit there for SP sake. |

It's psychological.
It sucks when you start a skirmish match and before you can reach your nearest NULL cannon, the enemy team has hacked the other four. Once that happens I personally (and I assume others as well) am like "fml...this blows." Usually at that point I'll personally do one of three things - run around like a madman and just not GAF, quit and find another match, MCC snipe those who are too ignorant to move around and get complacent in them crushing the team I'm on. |

and there in lies the problem with this RPG and and people not wanting to lose iSK. What happens: people are being beaten - drop to milita - get beaten worse. Rinse and repeat.
There needs to be a separation of player base by equipment or increase rewards.
And I agree with someone else's post about removing KDR it may stop people hiding in the MCC

I've had a number of close matches, alot of not so close ones, however I really only play while squaded. Almost every match I will see my full squad and blueberries vs some other corps full squad and redberries. I think that squads are what disrupt matchmaking. When the other team doesn't have a squad, they usually get decimated, and if they have 2 or 2 1/2 squads then we can get decimated.
Dust/EVE are very social games and squadding should be encouraged, but the matchmaking doesn't go with that. I have been championing an idea for queuing mission difficulty
"I personally wanted to see a new matchmaking where players could compete for higher rewards. Like 200 isk/WP vs 100 isk/wp vs 50isk/wp. That will attract veterans into the 200isk matches and newbies into the 50isk matches. So there are no gear restrictions or penalities to anyone, the community would segregate itself. And it makes sense lore wise that the pay would be different for different types of missions.
[Edit]: Or if Isk is only going to be determined by gear destruction, have different percentage returns based on the value of the match. This can also have SP influence as well, to attract veterans into the higher SP matches, and if newbies want the full thrill they can still just register for the more dangerous missions."
This way, squads can go for 200 Isk/WP, solo maybe the 100 Isk/WP and newbies for the 50 Isk. |

plenty of close matches here, we got into a Ambush last night that had 22 clones 38 clones then and turned it around and won. Though i will admit close games are like 10-20% thing. |

this game is not designed to be played alone...
even a squad of randoms brings a greater chance for a good match.
We often have good close matches, and often have extremely 1 sided matches. just random on that
but if you are rolling solo in a game where perks are given to squads and cumulative WP bring orbitals and TEAMWORK allows to be competitive, then I honestly cant feel sorry for you.
even if playing alone get in a squad... this is an issue with the entire community and an easy fix.
no even in a squad will not necessarily make certain matches any better depending on the opposition, but u have no chance when on your own |

That is your problem right there.
More than anything, this is a team game.
Do yourself a solid and join a corp, any corp. Having people to communicate with and work together with goes a long, long way to making the game enjoyable and not a getting your crap pushed in experience.
I cannot stress this enough, playing solo makes the game a lot more difficult and frustrating than it needs to be. |

Hellstorm has a no leave agreement upon joining, there is no way to really enforce it but it is there. We do not leave battle, even if we are getting trounced.
There have been matches that seem stacked. I swear, what are the odds of going against 1 squad of EoN, 1 squad of LOI, 2 imps and 2 blueberries? But I don't leave, to be honest, I go hunting. We start calling our prey, "Kujo's mine! I'm on Nikia! Nobody kill Cubz, I got dibs!" |

6 man squads are the leading cause of the constant stream of terrible games, the natural solution to that is for another 6 man squad to balance out the first, but match maker is terrible, and when its not being terrible don't be surprised to see 6 pros leave rather than face an even fight or the chance their KDR will drop. |

Today, my team took 3 of the 4 points before the enemy team even took one.
Why? the reds were all trying to "help" their team by flying up to the towers to snipe. Didn't do a damn thing. Had a similar thing happening when we had the majority of the team using mics- they came up with a "brilliant" idea to all go on the towers to support the ground troops. I was 1 of the only 3 people on the ground instead of on a tower, we were getting our asses handed to us, and the tower snipers still insisted they were helping. |

Bad squad/team work on both sides.
Once an objective is taken it is hard to take when enemies are spawning on it.
My guess is the people winning are the first ones to take the objectives in force. After that unless your team/squad is organized taking them back is near impossible.
Basically you have about 3 to 4 people at an objective...dribbling in one or two people at a time will not take it back. |

You're not in close matches because you or the opposing team are allowing failcascade morale issues to impede your competitive nature. Also because you're running militia gear instead of finding a happy medium in the standard to advanced range. Also because you are solo and ... yeah... squads are better and a team with decent squad on each side is going to be the best game around. That squad provides the core around which blueberries can blossom into pretty little redberry killing machines.
But I digress.
If I'm in solo ambush chill mode running advanced suit with an exile (or GEK), complex shields, basic plates, and BPO equipment and I start getting smacked around by some dude running a Krin, I upgrade to a full proto team support suit, rep the blueberries, drop uplinks to keep the fight going, and go positive for the match and it's usually (ahem... ) closer than 47-0. If I go something like 7/5 in a regular ambush it means I get a payout <300k and have lost suits totalling 700k isk ... but guess what... that's the point. it cost more to compete with that full squad on the opposing team and it's worth it to upgrade for the good fight.
if i check the board pre-game the next game and don't see any big names or full squads, then i run around in 20,000 isk cheap suits and in the end I am overall ISK positive for the week.
[EDIT: ALSO... higher tier PC-corp full squads generally run OMS or Dom because normal ambush isn't worth the time sitting in the Warbarge and Skirmish is for lolz (and PC map burnout) and it's where they know they can find each other for gud fites. Domination is just that and usually (unless good squads on each team) results in ... domination. For solo play go for normal ambush and just take your licks... it'll be over soon because they are really fast fights and good for generating isk for newer players running cheap gear. Skirmish is typically where AFKers, non-PC corp squads, and bright eyed blueberry solo players fight for the honor of their MCC, so it's very hit or miss] |

Running militia is part of your problem. Honestly standard is so much better than militia and does not cost much. I run proto and generally make money. Like others said it is all about squading up. Even just one other person helps. Most of my ambush matches are me and a friend and we consistently finish top of the leader board because we stick together and he reps me haha. |
