I'm wondering if I'm the only one who thinks SSAO will break all the remaining PS3's that haven't already buckled under Dust's terrible code? |

it was sony's grand plan all along: make a free game that slowly destroys your PS3, forcing you to buy a new one
that's the real reason why nobody's playing dust

That would only apply if it was replacing a different effect. |

We will see, though.
Fingers crossed. They have some familiarity with this as it's implemented EVE side according to that wiki. |

We should refrain from any "dark speculations" until U1.2 is deployed imho. Just wait and see. QQ, eventually afterwards and not beforehand...

From this page:WikiPedia wrote:Compared to other ambient occlusion solutions, SSAO has the following advantages: Independent from scene complexity. No data pre-processing needed, no loading time and no memory allocations in system memory. Works with dynamic scenes. Works in the same consistent way for every pixel on the screen. No CPU usage GÇô it can be executed completely on the GPU. May be easily integrated into any modern graphics pipeline.
RSX (PS3's GPU)
WikiPedia wrote:Sony staff were quoted in PlayStation Magazine saying that the "RSX shares a lot of inner workings with NVIDIA 7800 which is based on G70 architecture."Since the G70 is capable of carrying out 136 shader operations per clock cycle, the RSX was expected to feature the same number of parallel pixel and vertex shader pipelines as the G70, which contains 24 pixel and 8 vertex pipelines. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated during Sony's pre-show press conference at E3 2005 that the RSX is twice as powerful as the GeForce 6800 Ultra. Im sure the ps3 will run at max capacity, intense strain causing overheating. Usually these things happen with graphically loaded titles. Sucks dust does it. |

PS3 and UE3 do not work together afaik.
xbox360 I think works, but I'm not sure - but I'm going back two years and might be totally OOD. |

Note the last sentence. Only thing which matters to me in the entire Dev blog. Stuff the new suit/modules. I want framerate at 30 all day, everyday. |

This is either pure troll or just really, really dumb.
You do realize that entire collection of words mentioned about SSAO has to do with improving performance? Not even CCP in all of their blunders thus far would intentionally throw some graphics feature into the mix causing DUST run even hotter and more resource hungry for the sake of graphics alone. |

Most of the current load is on the CPU and RAM; moving some of it to the GPU via SSAO will free up more resources. The PS3 has a more than adequate GPU for what's being attempted.
Hopefully this is the beginning of CCP pushing for 60 FPS. |

Because surely CCP would never do anything that would result in the game taking a step backwards, right? Surely, that hasn't happened even once during the development of this game, or with Eve. There's no reason whatsoever to believe it might happen here. Surely.
Now go sit in the corner and reflect on how much of an abrasive moron you are. Thanks. |

I don't understand the last sentence! Does it have something to do with framerate? It seems like it's about streaming video to Twitch.tv or something. |
