...if CCP so chooses.
Ouya Gaming Console
Ouya Technical Specs and Detailed Rundown
- It's a great up-and-coming platform for cash-shop item games, like Dust 514.
- It's significantly more powerful than the PS3.
- It's only $99.
- It's hardware can be upgraded by the user (and this is encouraged).
- Android/Linux-based.
- No license
- No fees
- No SDK required. (the system itself IS the dev box)
- Will be competing against PS4, Xbox1, and Wii U.
If Sony or anyone else gives CCP a hard time. CCP will still be able to work really well and fast, for WAAAY cheaper developing on the Ouya. If Dust goes to the Ouya, it can shake the console war.
PS3s are only selling right now, BECAUSE of Dust. lol
Serious recommendation.

The Ouya is rather weak technologically speaking, but it's a great device especially for low-end gaming (read gaming on the cheap, aka the college budget).
CCP has stated they want to use more powerful tech than the PS3 has to run Carbon, and host larger battles, the Ouya would not be that much better in that regard, especially in comparison to the PS4, or better yet A PC. |

If it moves to the OUYA the player base will drop drastically. It's a good purchase for the casual gamer, but not many people will buy it. Most people haven't even heard of it. It's better to move to the PS4 |

Well... I should rephrase that. They're not ONLY selling because of Dust. But Dust did boost PS3s sales significantly... ...according to CCP and Sony.

Console gamers are slow to move to PC gaming rigs. They just don't want to put down the money for one sadly. The Ouya on the other hand, is simply $99. |

This.... ...is true.
Development would be so cheap, fast, and effcient on such a machine, though. Even players would be able to produce content for Dust on its platform... a privilege previously only reserved for PC gamers.
It couldn't be an Ouya-exclusive release... player base would drop too much, as you say. But if it's Ouya-inclusive, I think the number of players would actually INCREASE, because of the bargain price. Releasing patches wouldn't be a pain in the ass on the Ouya as it is with the PS3.
Some good developers and publishers are already moving some content to it. Including SquareEnix. I'd love to see this little thing kick Sony and Microsoft in the nuts. |

Some good developers and publishers are already moving some content to it. Including SquareEnix. I'm not worried about it's technical power. It's already strong enough, and it's hardware capabilities can be expanded, unlike traditional consoles. I'd love to see this little thing kick Sony and Microsoft in the nuts.
I have no doubt about it's technology power, but I would put money on the fact that a lot of the bigger companies aren't paying much attention to it. It hasn't had that great of marketing (I found it wandering YouTube), The download size would be HUGE for a game like this, even COD or Battlefield. Even though it supports external storage, people would buy a $400-$500 console with better game than pay for this. Most of it's games are small, cheap, basic games ranging from free-$2. Doesn't seem like a Rocky Balboa to me. |

LOL!!!! The Ouya???!!!! The same thing that won't erase your credit card information from the start up screen if you decide to sell it or just want it removed??? No way. When I think Ouya, I think of one of those systems you see at one of those local pharmacy stores that sell behind the counter an Atari joystick that you plug into your TV with over 250 games.
I don't want an Ouya and I don't see how it would flourish. I don't believe in that indie/Android market is strong enough to warrant me spending 100 on a start up company's console. Have you seen and used the controller? No sir or ma'am, I will not. Plus it doesn't make sense. All those nice little fun games and then you have this really in depth game Dust on Ouya.
Don't turn my current favorite FPS into a joke by placing it on Ouya |
