Although you'll only see me doing this with my plasma cannon alt (plasma cannons are most effective in urban clusterfucks like this), there IS 1 point that I absolutely love
No spawning on the letter; personally, I think skirmish should work just like domination does now, just with more points. Installations and uplinks in domination are actually important- without them, getting killed means marching all the way back from the starting spawn, so it's important to stick to the letter (something skirmish doesn't have) |

I must say this though, if you do this, add more CRUs. Also I implore you guys to please make the MCCs rotate around the map to make the deployment zones not static. |

No spawning on objectives is something that should be implemented for Skirmish as well. It adds a lot of value to Drop Uplinks, CRUs on the battlefield, Mobile CRUs in any kind of vehicle, Nanite Injectors to get people back up near objectives and will generally lead to better gameplay in my opinion.
I made this thread about it, and how to balance spawning in general in a better way without objective spawning. Please look at it https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=881177#post881177 |

Yes, please. Separate the spawn area from the combat area. While spawn mechanics are much improved, IMHO they're not preferable to regular combat flow that results when reinforcements must approach the combat from a distance. |

For me, the main reason I like Domination is the single objective focuses the action. There's not a lot of wandering around trying to find the enemy. But compared to Skirmish, the flow of the battle is much more static.
I think if they took Skirmish, but only allowed capture on one or two letters at a time (lock the others) it would be SO FUN. The battle would shift around dynamically but you'd never have any problems finding action. |

This is some of what I was trying to say, but you put it much better. The current system in skirmish just lets your reinforcements pop out of thin air on the front line.
This encourages "zerg" tactics, or rushing. You don't need to defend an objective, since you can just spawn in once it starts getting hacked or loses a point. Because people can just spawn in at any time, the only way to take an objective is to rush it with almost all of your team, because almost all of the enemy team is just going to spawn in to defend it. |

I totally agree. I think that having free spawns on the letters just diminishes the value of CRU and drop uplinks. |

Hey LogicLoop, we've got an ongoing thread about this very issue already up in the Feedback forums. I admit the name is probably a bit more negative than necessary, but I was trying to drum up traffic. Please take a look at it. It's got a few thousand view, multiple pages of detailed conversation and feedback on the topic, 150 likes, and spans months of conversation.

edit: looks like KAGE already linked to my thread. lol |

Spawning on objectives is bad and the objectives should feel bad for letting people spawn at them.
I agree 100% that spawning on objectives should be done away with in Skirmish and Skirmish: One and Only (Sorry, I refuse to refer to that gamemode by the name it was given for Uprising). |

Shows you how often I play Skirmish: One and Only. I've been officially boycotting it since it was presented as a separate game mode from Skirmish, not to mention that I absolutely hate that it was named what it was for Uprising.
When I hear that word in reference to FPS, I think of much larger maps with a multitude of tiered objectives, not little ol' One and Only. |

I concur. We shouldn't even have CRUs at objectives. If a team leaves an objective undefended with no uplinks, they deserve to lose that objective. |

They're far easier to hack without interference than NULL cannons, and players will eventually be able to buy and call in their own. |

just copying and pasting what I said on this thread https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1054033#post1054033
wheres the RPG part of this? how is this the only unexplained place to spawn? its undervaluing CRU's Drop uplinks and mobile CRU vehicles. promoting the simple zerg rush over tactics! remove objective spawning, add APC's built for mobile spawning. add extra CRU on maps? (not one for every objective, like one on tabletop in line harvest) removing objective spawn will make tactical gameplay a viable option other than zerg rush.
unfortunately this will also add a bigger prob of uplink spam this can be fixed by only allowing 1 type of uplink to be placed at a time (keep nanohives the same so a logi can use a triage and a ammo one at the same time depending on situation) |

I much prefer domination over squirmish as well because of the concentrated action and I agree that CRUs should be far from combat to put added value on spawn pads and other tactical devices. My problem with domination at the moment however is that after the first fight or so, whoever lost the first encounter seems to drop the sponge.
While considering that squirmish maps have too many objectives in relation to the amount of players on the maps, I was wondering what kind of matches we would have if there were 2 dynamic objectives that reset every X seconds or minutes. I think this would give a place for the beaten team to fall to and regroup and hopefully mix a little bit of tactics as you could do a full on assault but at the cost of not protecting the other objective. |

agree...i think if they opened the maps more and put starting spawn spots so far from point 'A' that clones would not even want to try to run there...then vehicles would be used the right way, teamwork and uplinks would be very important to even get to 'A' let alone keep it...
i play Domination 98% of the time..love it but would love to see more of the map open... |

I can see problems with this. That said, it would force a lot more strategy, team work, and the use of uplinks.

Now in instant battles, I just use free suits and repeatedly rush from the nearest spawn. Usually gets me more WP than the players who spend a lot. I know it's abusing the system, and taking away objective spawns would make this tactic worthless. Unless there was a dedicated logiship pilot. |
