Make it still a FPS but you can do what you want, travel where you want, make what you want? I see people keep wanitng to have a more open experiense, something EVE like, with PVP and PVE. The ability to make lots of money and to blow said money away in matches. To be able to bring a tank in a game and not worry about the fact that you just lost a mil because someone blew it apart |

I want the core to be FPS.
Of course all those features and things would be awesome. |

Getting out of the lobby would be cool....though i am unsure CCP can do it and i am damn sure they can't do it on a PS3. |

You should always be motivated not to lose gear. If you make that aspect meaningless, you will lose part of the core concept. |

I agree with this sentiment, the game loses a big part of it's meaning if losing expensive stuff no longer hurts.
I mean if you can lose 1 M ISK EVERY match, and never face repercussions for your actions (Losing tons of money) then what's the point of having ISK or money in the first place?
And there is a similar philosophy in EVE where "don't fly what you can't afford to lose".
Yeah you -can- get enough money to buy a few dozen faction battleships, but losing them still hurts your wallet.
As to exploration, something I really love, how would you suggest them reasonably doing it?
There are thousands of planets in New Eden, and even making a single planet fully explorable would be fun... but then what? Most planets are mostly large expanses of NOTHING for huge swaths of space. Generally you'd only want to just be able to go from hotspot to hotspot.
As an example, I'll talk about WoW. In WoW, you have the feeling of a big open world, but because of it you have to spend a sizable amount of time traveling. So then they added flying mounts. Now you just zip past the scenery (still using travel time) but for the most part just passing over all the land areas you don't care about.
Just having more area won't make the game more interesting, and if there isn't enough fun things to do in exchange for all that travel it just becomes more grindy, except now the grind is in traveling for 10 minutes by dropship or LAV to get to the next site.
That said, I would LOVE to be able to fight on a very expansive battle ground where Dropships became important just because of the need for mobility, but only if the player count on those maps justified the size. |

I'd like to see it be an FPSMMORPG.
FPS at heart. RPG in terms of fitting, skill allocation, non-battle "stuff" (I suppose metagame falls under here too). MMORPG in terms of the battles we can fight in.
If we get to EVE levels of 500-1000 people in a battle, that would awesome, and most people would be merely small cogs in a big machine. When the BattleCommander says "Take that hill!" how many clones are going to go "I'll be right behind the guy going first" |

But what about making stuff. Why not be able to use the districts we own to mine and make stuff. Yes clone making is making stuff but that should be the base. Then you could add a structure that requires you to restart extractor heads, or start up manufacturing plants. these plants could then pump out some low end BPO suits or modules for corp hangers or an upgraded one can add higher end modules or vehicles to the corp hanger but it has to be fed by a mining district and how much you mine is how much you make. and it could be like how PI is in eve with just moving stuff around. not much in the way of exploring but it could be a way to add something to the game. or how about PVE exploring where you have to secure a location. maybe like a rouge drone operation plant. You have to fight your way in and shut down the plant. then clear out the rest of the drones in the area. Use the biomass or communication socket. it would help improve everyones gun game and add more options. |

Reading these forums I would summarise the answer to your questions as follows. The heart of the game is an FPS but we want everything from every other genre e.g. RTS for the commander, RPG for PVE, and Tetris when you are in the MCC/Redlined.
Basically we want a game with all the options of real life but as if we were rich immortal super soldiers. If CCP ever creates a game that allows you to do anything and be anything, and make it fun and pretty to look at, then they will probably dominate the gaming world. |

Yes this game as a FPS isn't great but if the basics can be poished then CCP needs to make the game more of a RPG and eliminate the damn public matches eventually or make pubmatches obsolete for vets who have their fill of killing randoms |

I believe it is intended that Dust will eventually become the game you and so many others have envisioned. Without that stuff, it has no Unique Selling Point over any other FPS. |

No character face customization / removal of helmets No PVE No trading No social areas to walk around and interact with people besides that glorified shooter lobby known as the war barge.

I want this to be Eve, though rather than spaceships, I want boots and guns. Also, instead of space, I want planets. I want Eve as a functioning open world FPS/PVP environment.
I've been under the impression that is what Dust was to be from the start. If I hadn't been in the closed beta and had that impression only to come to this lobby shooter, I'd delete and uninstall quicker than you can say "Your stuffz, I can haz?". |

Core should definitely be more MMORPG than FPS. I just want the planet-side (NOT THE GAME) version of eve. |
