They are, it's just hopeful that they keep taking a peek back to see if things are fixed.
There are probably some insane new players who like the idea of the game that will put up with getting completely owned for 4 or 5 months until they can compete. Possibly longer if they aren't crazy enough to run both boosters non-stop.
I just hit 14 million SP, if I stay completely focused I could have this character completely specialized in about a month and a half. Maybe a bit longer to max out biotics and such.
I say that because after that it doesn't matter much. I can only bring the complete beastmode with that one specialization. It's time they look at removing the SP cap and accelerating passive SP quite a bit.
If there was ever a worry that the vets would get too big of a lead on these guys I think we are already at a point where it can't get much worse. They need to focus 100% of their concerns about players to the new players. And that is giving them a chance to get competitive.
I can run proto in a pub match against newbs and take on 3 or 4 of them while reloading. I can just move around a bit and patiently reload, drop a nanohive, start throwing fluxes, and then drop the pain with the MD and take them out.
In addition to removing the cap and accelerating SP they need to start new players out with at least 2 million SP. On top of that they need to allow for respecs to let them clean up their path after they learn what's going on. |

Then just go already. You just sound like a whiney little douche with no more in you're life but the game and the forums. Oh wait, you won't leave will you. No, because you want to be heard. You want to feel if people actually care. If you really and truly hated this game so much you would have just left without another **** and moan thread.
He doesn't hate it. He likes it. He's trying to help.
See you new people will eventually become bitter when the glaring issues start to wear at you. He's just come back from a break. He's one of the best tankers in the game. He tries to help new players out in squads, even random ones we pick up from pub matches.
The imperfects are similar. People loved to hate them, but they did care about the game. They tried to help.
I've put a lot of time and a lot of money into this game. I would hope that CCP does care what players like myself and Charlotte have to say. They ought to name a build after me with the amount of AUR I've bought in the year (nearly a year) I've been playing. I'd have courtside seats if I were buying tickets from a sports team. Ownership listens to the folks with those seats. |

Ownership listens to the folks with those seats. Don't you have a corp member or alliance member that's a CPM? Why not give him decent points to take up with CCP instead of all this forum rubbish? Do you think all of this "I'm bored" threads help the game? Or do you think they might actually put newer players off actually trying it? We don't have a CPM member. You are thinking of CRONOS, they have 2 or 3. |

I don't think anything will turn new players off more than getting stomped on by vets with 14x the SP they have.
I think they are going to be so consumed with getting stomped they won't understand the core issues within the game that are broken. How could they? To them even a duvalle isn't working because they aren't at Prof 5 and don't have enough HP to survive a gunfight.
If they buff vehicle PG by 10% the vets will be able to tell you what the implications are within a few hours. If the implications are good or bad it won't matter much because CCP won't react to their suggestions for months even though they usually spot on. < things like this are causing the bitterness. |

Imagine a dude without a mic that starts up Dust without a clue of what's going on. He picks a race and finds the skill tree. I'm sure a ton of SP will get allocated here without any idea about fittings. As is stands the mistakes made here are permanent on this character.
Now that he's wasted a half a million SP he finds the fitting screen and hopefully doesn't screw up his starter fittings to the point of not being able to participate in a battle. Let's pretend he doesn't and joins a battle.
He joins a bunch of other clueless dudes and does well because he's a COD vet. After 25 matches he's thrown to the wolves. He joins a match on a day where the Imps have decided to check back in. There also a squad of Eon dudes that made it on that side. This guy doesn't have a clue what he's in for. He's got a KDR of 8.0 from the academy. 5 minutes later he's 0-12 and feels like he just got ran over by a truck.
I hear it over and over again that this isn't COD or whatever. But there is such a huge gap in the progression systems of both games that it's not comparable. You can be maxed out in COD in what a month? It will take you 8 or 9 months to max out a specialized character in Dust with boosters.
This guy will get better to the point he might be able to put up a 3-12 match going against the dudes above. But more than likely he'll do what the rest of them do and sit in the MCC trying to snipe after 2 minutes of playing. How long can that be fun?
The SP gap issue is a big one, a better system could help them hold on to new players. |

My post above only deals with new player retention. I think the game is potentially doomed for this scenario.
Combine it will the players who love(d) the game and cracked out on it for almost a year now leaving and you've got trouble.
I'll be playing for a while, I'm not at the breaking point yet. But it doesn't change my ability to see the writing on the wall.
CCP sees it too or they wouldn't be jumping through their ass to get all these Dev blogs out. Personally I don't give a damn about the Dev blogs anymore either. Show me something that affects my gameplay now. |
