Once you have your main role pimped out, it is very easy to look back at how long it took and say meh.
I only have two more levels of the vehicle scanning skill left, and my armor build is complete. Since there is no point in wasting SP into a Vayu, and I have never been a shield tanker, I am just going to save my SP for the pilot suit.
Saving SP for something that isn't released, and might not even be worth it, is not an encouraging place to be. So my desire to grind out to keep my K/D climbing is falling rapidly.
If they keep giving people things to aspire to, basically making fits more powerful, then they need to come up with some type of player segregation that doesn't break the game.

Stop posting every day... just blitzpost for a week after every release. It's less draining... |

I think they are going to be so consumed with getting stomped they won't understand the core issues within the game that are broken. How could they? To them even a duvalle isn't working because they aren't at Prof 5 and don't have enough HP to survive a gunfight.
If they buff vehicle PG by 10% the vets will be able to tell you what the implications are within a few hours. If the implications are good or bad it won't matter much because CCP won't react to their suggestions for months even though they usually spot on. < things like this are causing the bitterness.
Yeah, have to agree on the new player concerns front.
I don't know what they are thinking... but I find the solutions they put in place are rather ham fisted attempts at fixing things. The battle academy, for example is not a great in-game source of fun. They need to put in a lot more thought so they can find a game suitable solution that enhances the fun within imposing artificial barriers on players.
Just an off the cuff dumb idea and not a suggestion, so I hope I won't get roasted, but having some type of planet to planet transportation system, with costs based on the expected skill level, could allow people to self-segregate. The beginner would not have the coin to get there (to high level planets) and would get owned if they did. Also, due to the risk/reward concept the ISK and drops in those areas would attract higher level folks who wouldn't want to waste time stomping newbs.
To me, this is a lot more fun that slapping people into a battle academy. It has the chance to add to the concept of the game itself while serving a purpose. More fixes should end up with this type of effect instead of breaking something or acting like a clunky barrier that gets in the way of enjoyment. |

Charlotte O'Dell wrote:Like, hate on the imps, but if CCP listened to them we'd have a damn good game right now, but instead they listen to nooblet fanboys who insist the game is perfect.
Anyway, troll on.
I seriously doubt this is the case. I know the current plan is blame all the new people, or the people who are actually able to enjoy the game because they don't have 11M SP wracked up.
The new people have a good perspective on what it is like to be a new player.
The vets have a lot of perspective on how the game changes have had impact over time, how the progression works, and how to balance things as presumably they are actually good at the items the specialize in.
CCP needs to carefully weigh the material in the forums and realize who knows what.
We all need to have some damned patience as nothing is going to change exactly how any of us want it to no matter how long we wait. However, it might still get better over time as the fixes are coming in.
As someone in the software industry (sadly, not games... I'll take a job in the gaming industry if the pay fits tho -- I could create systems, utilities, tools, APIs, etc) I have to say that large projects usually have one to two doom and gloom cycles. It is somewhere near the end and all kinds of problems show up. This is where some projects fall apart. However, working past the first gloom and doom often leads to a second shorter issue where the massive fixes cause new problem. This is the toughest part.
Getting through those two humps generally provides a good core set of capabilities in whatever project it happens to be and then is easier to build upon.
I can't say if that applies to the gaming industry... but it is common enough in other industries. |

They need to focus 100% of their concerns about players to the new players. And that is giving them a chance to get competitive". This is true. The SP cap is wayyy over due for the 'ol dynamite pile. If you aren't doing PVP anytime soon, you should do away with all the capping thats going on. Some snacks for your brains to nibble on.
Maybe... but there are other solutions to the competitiveness issue than futzing with the SP cap. |
