There are many among the community that feel that CCP isn't reading threads being posted by players. Whether they be one-line troll posts or multi-part in-depth essays on the mechanics of one aspect of the game, not every post has that fancy blue / red tag next to them, and from what I'm seeing, makes people think that they are being ignored.
What I'm proposing is to use the current notification system to notify the thread creator when their thread is viewed by CCP staff (or possibly CPM members). This would at least show that a member of CCP has viewed your post (or, for the cynics out there, tabbed it open and closed it) and might help the community feel as though they are being heard.
This could also extend into the post itself. At the top of the post window, you can see if / when someone last edited their post. You could slap on there "Viewed By CCP" to the right of the "Edited By: Derp" for everyone to see.
We know that CCP doesn't have the time to comment on every thread, but to know that it was at least looked at by CCP could help with the lack of communication the community is currently complaining about.
Please, no trolls in here. If you like it, you like it, if you don't, you don't. |

I have no doubt in my mind that the CPM are doing their jobs and relaying good threads to CCP for viewing, and I really appreciate CCP LogicLoop popping into the IRC chat to talk with us. I've just been seeing a lot of threads being created asking for more communication from CCP, and I think that by having people know that their content was at the very least viewed by a staff member, it would help the community feel like they are being heard. |

How do you guys get conversations with the CCP guys? I've heard some people talk about their conversations with CCP but never found out how to actually get a hold of them. If you're talking about the IRC chat I mentioned., if you head over to Dust514.Org (pre-release Dust514 fansite), hit the tab that says "Chat", choose a name, and you're in. Devs aren't always in there, but sometimes they do pop in for a quick chat. When I say chat, I mean like chat chat, not just to present news or the like, but talk for the sake of talking. Dust topics do pop up though. |

I remember reading a DEV post once where they put, loose quote "We made this person read every post in this one thread" and it was a pretty big thread, but only took 20 minutes to go through.
If they are proud of that, I doubt they even look at the forums except to lock your junk. Tbh, we could be very disappointed with how many threads they look at. We also could be very surprised to see this tag on every thread. We won't know either way unless there's some indicator that the thread was looked at.
Also, this idea only extends to the original post. For each additional post in the thread to have this tag would be a bit overkill. |

Plus if I was CCP, I would just develop a script that basically marked all post as Viewed by CCP I don't think CCP's agenda involves forcing us into tin foil hat discussions about how they purposely mislead, lie, and deceive their playerbase. Not every action on their part is designed to make the community rage while they sit at their desks, sipping wine and adjusting their monocles.
I can understand how it would be easy to manipulate this system on their end. Some companies would probably go to such lengths to keep the money flowing. I don't believe CCP to be one of these companies, however you're free to form your own opinion. |

Django Quik wrote:I'm pretty certain that either a dev or GM reads every single thread on the forum, so there'd be little point in having a notification for this go out to every thread that gets posted. I am too. If you look over General Discussion, there's plenty of threads that go something like "CCP doesn't listen", "CCP doesn't care", "CCP doesn't even read these", "No communication"... stuff like that. I'm just trying to find a way to somewhat remedy the current situation. |
