I don't know what has happened to them, but ever since a few days ago, the pud matches have started to become extremely unfair. Every time I get into a match solo, I get stuck with the worst of the worst when it comes to fps games. I try my best to hold up the team, getting well over 6-13 kills and barely any deaths, but somehow, the blue dots are able to screw it all up.
For example, in a previous match, I went 8/1. Not bad. Now here's the others.
2/1 3/4 1/1 1/0
These were the best 4 other than me. Now here's the rest.
1/5 3/6 0/4 2/7 0/3 0/4 0/2 0/4 0/0 1/6 2/6
Mmmhmm. Now the enemy had a variation of advanced and proto, while my team... well, I was the only proto. Now think of these statistics, and try going 15-20 games in a row with somewhat of the same results. Yeah, that's my life!
The only time I was finally able to bail out my teammates was when I was able to go 17/0. We won by 8 clones. That was one match, in that row of 20.
What has happened to Dust? Did everyone turn into a newbie and get thrown onto my team every flipping time!!!!????
Now the only way I can win matches is to find some decent friends that actually know how to play the game. Advice for you all, and it has been said many times before.
NEVER... TRUST... BLUEBERRIES/BLUE DOTS!!!
Entertain me here, CCP. Please state some kind of update that will fix pub matches, or solo gaming will be dead in Dust 514.
Now, for anyone who gets lucky enough to see me on their team might see me say in the team chat, "We're all going to lose, thanks to you flipping blueberry idiots." Of course, that's only if you are a newbie or have no experience whatsoever in shooter games. Because that's the only type of person that gets to be on my team for some reason.

A person in your situation might consider mixing up deployments. If you go ambush -> Skirmish -> Domination ->OMS -> Ambush... etc. it's unlikely you'll get grouped up with the same people twice.
If you finish a (one sided) ambush match, and immediately redeploy ambush, well all I can think would happen is so did your bluedots.
Perhaps some variety will help keep you sane?

The current matchmaking system matches players based on an ELO rating, so technically it's working. The problem with the ELO system is that it doesn't work when there's too many variables present, namely gear choice. LoL uses the same system, however everyone is on a fairly even playing field when matches are made.
The new matchmaking system will take into account player gear choice when matching players against each other, while putting a slight priority towards those on your friends list. Hopefully this will throw proto players with other proto players and leave the militia / standards to their own games.
This is what I remember from the E3 presentation, anyways. Exactly how it determines your gear choice is something I don't know. It could use your past 50 dropsuits in terms of ISK or something like that. |

Seems to me that...
1) The matchmaking might want to look at corp names and give weight to more of the same. 2) It would be nice to let people sort the player list to more easily determine the corp representations. |

At the risk of being unpopular sir, you are part of this problem.
There are a lot of people trying to play this game who have not been playing since day one of the open beta. I myself can only just fit advanced.
When I try and play a pub match it's utterly frustrating! Half or more of the enemy team are proto fit, and at that point even I will admit my spawning just wastes clones. And on top of that I have to take s**t from my own team because I'm not wearing good enough gear to level my K/D.
I understand completely that you reserve your right to not carry me when I'm on your team, but I sure as heck don't hear you complaining that guys on the other team are too easy to kill.
You can go on about just how much you go positive in a match, and that's because you've just ruined a bunch of red berries who are trying to play in non-protos days.
This needs to be fixed in matchmaking, it's not your fault, nor any players. But please try and look at both sides of the coin. It really is as annoying to me as it is to you.
Peace. |

So if the new system takes gear choice into account what does that mean for me? I usually run a standard suit with a standard to proto weapon and militia to proto modules. Where is the new system going to throw me? Also, usually when I squad up I'm with guys they're running roughly similar or lower gear than me... What is the new system going to do to us? If sp is being taken into account than the guys I squad with are going to get screwed, I have roughly 8 mil sp and the rest are in the 2-6 mil range... I know only ccp has the answers but I hope variables like these were thought of when they designed the new system. |

Tbh, we have no idea how the new matchmaking system will work, only what it hopes to accomplish. I would think that it would average the ISK cost of your fittings lost in your past 50 - 100 deaths. If that's true, then you'll find yourself thrown in with other people that like to mix and match their fittings. |

Solo gaming isn't the point. I sometime have that Issue I jump into FW matches and I'm stuck with the laziest FW players of all time and I'm the only one cracking double digit kills or hacking objectives (E.g- Yesterdays gaming saw me 15 kills higher than the second highest player and more than 1500 WP their better on a 1.5 million SP toon). That just down to players not mechanics of unfair gameplay.
To balance that out randomly hopped into a squad with Eliters today, they basically redlined the crap out of anything that moved, even though opposition was incredibly fierce. |

I'm not sure if the described new system will be any better than the current one. Trying to predict player behavior when there are so many variables doesn't seem like it will ever work. I'm still hoping for segregated meta level map choices for pub matches.
However, something that I've noticed, from wed-fri the matches are okay with a couple afk'rs (or whatever) in every match, weekends have massive amounts of pub stomping and ppl will quickly give up on a match, then mon-tue tend to have the best matches.

So an interesting question on balancing based on gear. I run tanks, 7mil SP in nothing but vehicle skills. But they can be a drain on the wallet some times. So my solution is to run a bunch of back to back ambushes in starter gear every now and then to line my pockets. Usually the Isk grinding matches are pretty crap for my kd/r, but whatever, it's more money to drop tanks with later.
So on Isk grind, would/should I be put with other 7mil SP players? Or other MLT gear users? Also, I should note that even when I do drop a tank, the game records my favorite suit/weapon as whatever suit I was in when I hopped in the tank, not the tank itself. |

I think a better solution would be to remove the ability to join instant battles in squads of more then 3. I know, sounds unpopular, but it will remove a lot of the potential pub stomping that comes along with a strong 6 man squad.
As a side effect, 6 mans would then move to faction warfare, where some people think they belong.
The biggest problem with this is division in what is currently a pretty small playerbase, queue times could go up. |

I guess it all depends on how in depth CCP went into the match making system. 1 example given was looking at the history of your play and predicting what you will do now. The other match making system would be to give all of your gear a numerical value e.g. Militia = 0, STD = 1 etc and you can only enter a match if the gear chosen is equal to or less than the specified number and all suits and vehicles that exceed that number become invalid during that match should you try to say switch into ADV/Proto fits at a supply depot or call in a LLAV if you are in a militia/STD match. |

If CCP plans on surviving on the current meagre player base, where if you're on the Oceanic server you're up against the same people every match, then implementing matchmaking to further divide players would be seriously unwise.
Now, if we simply raised the price of prototype and advanced equipment, then people will stop running them in public matches because it's not profitable!
Even with a larger playerbase, matchmaking is so... unlike New Eden. An open universe, a sandbox, now with matchmaking. It doesn't work. By making the higher tier gear more expensive, it adds another level of integration between EVE and DUST (Capsuleers' wallets will be tapped into to either produce or supply ISK for prototype infantry gear. And if we increase vehicle gear by the same ratio, then prototype turrets and such will definitely require the deep pockets of the capsuleers to afford). |

That is wrong. The universe is perfectly balanced. There is exactly zero energy in the universe with the amount of positive exactly cancelling out the negative. |
