Cheer Up Buttercups, lets play a game!
Lets say you're the new guy, you just graduated college with an associates in game design and somehow you landed yourself a job at CCP to work on the revolutionary game of today's generation called Dust 514. First day on the job you've been called down to the round table at CCP Headquarters to attend an important meeting. The topic of discussion is dire, The Big Boss CEO asks a very simple question to all the Devs at the table.
"Dust 514 is a mess and is failing quickly, What must we do to fix it!? No Bull crap, 10 seconds to answer, Go!"
DEV1: Add more AUR Items DEV2: Strengthen the Dust/Eve Link DEV3: Nerf and Buff questionable Weapons and Vehicles DEV4: Improve graphics DEV5: Create More Events DEV6: Take A Vacation, We'll be refreshed and ready to work in 2 weeks. DEV7: Core Elements & Core Mechanics, Communication, sir.
CEO: These are all very good suggestions, though I must ask DEV7, your suggestion is very broad and quite frankly pretty alien to this table. Please elaborate and explain your reasoning, you have 2 minutes.
DEV7: " The Triple C's, known as Communicatin, Core Mechanics and Core Elements. Something I picked up back in my freshman year of game design 101. The rest of the Devs have all suggested great proposals and they all have more experience than I do. However I believe and from what I was taught that freshman year, is that in order to have a great game, you must first have a great foundation. Which is exactly what the Triple C's are designed to do. Since I only have 1 minute left I'll explain our Triple C's quickly.
Core Mechanics: Aiming/Shooting, Reviving, Game Glitches & Bugs, Memory Leaks, FPS Drops
Core Elements: Player Trading/Market, Tutorials/Explanations/Quick Tips, Matchmaking, Corp Emphasis, Planetary Conquest, Game Modes, Maps, PvE.
Communication: Providing adequate and vital information to the player base in a timely manner. As well as communicating with players on their suggested feedback, questions and reports.
That is all sir."
CEO: Well by god! I think we might have a genius here! Brilliant DEV7, Brilliant! Now I want all Devs and their respective teams to drop all current projects on hold and begin working on DEV7's Suggestions! I want a full update done and ready to go in a months time. |
