IGÇÖve been looking through the feedback section lately - IGÇÖve posted constructive, calm threads, and thereGÇÖs even been the odd CCP response, though thatGÇÖs far too rare. IGÇÖve been in closed beta since CCP invited EvE players to take part - quite a long time ago. The closed beta ran longer than this, of course.
This isnGÇÖt about bad dev communication though, despite consistent failures like players having to get information through looking at trailers frame by frame instead of being told, or the way that only forum-goers know whatGÇÖs going on.
This is more about the fact that even when we get dev communication, it means nothing. ThereGÇÖve been a variety of issues that the devs have acknowledged, a great number of them. WeGÇÖve been told outright that GÇ£Fixes are coming next updateGÇ¥ or GÇ£ThereGÇÖll be a dev blog on thisGÇ¥.
Where are those? Looking through the very first post in the thread which lists issues CCP have acknowledged, aside from the balancing (which is still poor), we have this:
CCP Cmdr Wang wrote: [SUGGESTION] Award WP for Mobile CRU use in Vehicles - This feature is being planned [SUGGESTION] Judging distance on a minimap - This feature is being planned [SUGGESTION] Nanite injector - Bleed out timer - The gamedesign team will need time to figure out what is the best approach to implement this feature
These are the very first things listed in this thread, over 9 months ago. And we have none of them. None. These are incredibly minor things as well - WP for mCRU use? That canGÇÖt possibly be hard to do! This is hardly exploitable - uplinks do this already, making dropships even more laughable than they are now. Judging distance on a minimap is crucial with the way ranges work right now, and we donGÇÖt have anything for that either. The nanite injector was, in fact, broken even more badly with Uprising. ItGÇÖs so unusable that IGÇÖve taken to fitting other things on a dedicated logistics suit.
This is a common trend throughout the entire thread. There are so many more examples here that I couldnGÇÖt possibly list them all. This isnGÇÖt even the earliest date that this kind of thing has happened though - as mentioned earlier, the beta has run longer than this.
ThereGÇÖs more than this though - key issues which people have been complaining about for months on end havenGÇÖt been fixed at all, have had useless fixes, or have been broken even more badly than previously.
While I did say this isnGÇÖt entirely about dev communication, we have missing dev blogs everywhere. These are things which were specifically promised: things which havenGÇÖt appeared. For example:
CCP Cmdr Wang wrote: [FEEDBACK] The current Dust FW System: Needs more player incentives Update: We will be adding more features to the Factional Warfare system in DUST in the next update, and we will discuss these features in more detail in a dev blog on this topic.
We even went through debating some huge issues months ago, only to have them reintroduced with Uprising.
CCP Cmdr Wang wrote: Thukker Grenade - AUR Only item Update: We will introduce an ISK variant soon, our goal is not to have AUR only items in the game, ever. GÇ£CheatingGÇ¥ or farming SP without risk Update: There is fix planned for this, the idea is that there will be a cap on total rewards that can be earned per match.
So, here we have contact grenades and AFK SP farming. For reference, this was discussed 9 months ago, almost to the day. Contact grenades were re-introduced with Uprising, and we had the same issues with them then that we do now. We also still donGÇÖt have isk equivalents to the fused locus grenades - they are still better than the prototype isk variant because of the splash radius being over twice as large.
AFK farming is still a thing, and frankly IGÇÖm glad they havenGÇÖt fixed it because it gives me a way to keep up with people who hit their SP cap- oh hey, they GÇÿdiscussedGÇÖ this issue too!
CCP Cmdr Wang wrote: Casual vs. Hardcore players in DUST 514
Player concern on how will casual players be able to keep up with hardcore players who might spend more time playing and gaining an advantage in SP and ISK.
I suppose thereGÇÖs one good thing thatGÇÖs happening with this, the matchmaking for next update- wait, weGÇÖve heard this before.
CCP, the playerbase is frustrated because the issues that theyGÇÖve strived to get to your attention havenGÇÖt been fixed. For over a year, weGÇÖve told you about these things. Over a year, and even the most minor of things havenGÇÖt been fixed.
This is the reason that there are rant threads left and right - heavy handed forum moderation does nothing but make the people who have tried to help you feel spurned.
Please, please, please fix these things. I, and many others, donGÇÖt care about rail rifles or suchlike. We care about the things that weGÇÖve cried out about for months and months being fixed.

The only real failure that CCP has done with DUST is the lack of community information, which I think is really bloody strange considering that EVE players get information timely and in great details. Whether it be in huge upcoming patch notes (which sometimes happen months before the changes) or humorous YouTube videos, EVE customers are generally well informed.
DUST kind of has the "working on it" attitude that a 9 year old might have about cleaning their room. "Is it done yet?" "No... I'm working on it?" Decent product and a decent company but the lines of communication between the consumer and provider seem to be severed.
Be well. |

If they knew how to fix and build a game in the first place, they would have fixed these minor things by now. I understand this game has the f2p option, but good damn, Mario Bros. worked better than this pile of garbage. They need to concentrate on making a game that works before ALL else. Why do you think all the CoD players tried DUST in the first place? People want a game that works, above all else. Developers never realized this. They just blow smoke and put up mirrors. |

At this point I don't think we can really look at the dev's anymore for a ''guilty''. It has become obvious that the problem stems from much higher up in the food chain. If there was great leadership and management, there is no way this situation would be tolerated and heads would roll. Look higher if you want to find the people responsible. You cannot blame the soldiers for losing a war. |
