There are so many things wrong with the game, we don't need to get into, but is anyone else not entirely taking this game seriously and just trying to earn SP. That way when the game becones fun and working, you'll have a headstart?
Thats what I've doing. Honestly, I hope I'm jot wasting my time. Once a game loses players, they don't regain the massive player count that they loss. So really I'm trying to earn SP to make a good character that will let me have fun with the players this game keeps, but everytime I login and see the player count lower and lower I start to think "why even bother? This is a tedious chore, whose effort will not come to fruition".
Anyone else just play for SP and not expect fun gameplay? |

I continue to enjoy every match, and I continue to feel very invested in this game, match by match. There's something in this game which truly frustrates and pisses me off when my nice suit (with only advanced gear cause I'm a rather SP poor) gets killed, in a way that I never feel in any other game. Something about knowing that I just lost a good 10-20% of my match's income in that one moment is more meaningful than any number of meaningless Ranks or K/D ratios or "Levels" in other games. Conversely when I get the drop on somebody in my all standard 7-8k Suit and kill their prototype suit with a few SR head shots, or when I can come out of a large fight with a handful of kills and a prayer's worth of Armor left, I feel a much larger sense of accomplishment than in other games.
I'm not sure how to explain how much it means to me that the gear I am destroying / losing is costing them / me in game ISK, but it's something that really makes this game stand out among all the shooters I've played. If you don't find that fun... then I'm not really sure how I can explain how deeply that invests me into the game. Yeah, I am like this too but for me personally as an EvE player, I have seen how EvE went through it's ups and downs and I know DUST will pull through. I still enjoy the game sometimes but in general right now because of the limited game modes and PvE not with the launch of the game, it just feels really grindy.
The problem with your logic is you are assuming the same outcome will happen with two completely different experiments. Yes, the experimenter (CCP) is the same, but the variables and subject matter are way different.
One is one PC, the other on console. Those markets alone are vastly different.
One is pretty much the only spaceship MMO out there to possibly go to, the other is an FPS, a genre that gets a new game every week. One has no competition, the other has nothing but competition.
CCP cannot do what they did with EVE and expect a success.
